holy shit, josh thought, is this really happening?

his hands were shaking uncontrollably. was it due to adrenaline? was it because of nerves? he didnt know. all he knew was that this moment in time, with his lips pressed against the lips of a beautiful boy, was pure bliss.

josh reached up and ran his hands slowly through tyler's short brown hair, earning a soft moan from tyler in response. tyler deepened the kiss, wanting josh more and more with every passing minute.

"hey, josh," tyler spoke in between kisses. "would you maybe want to take this into my b-"

tyler was cut off by the sound of josh's phone ringing.

josh jumped back, startled by the phone. he felt his face turn beet red, embarassed to have ruined the moment. "im really sorry," he said, picking up his phone to check the caller ID. "i-it's my mom. i have to take it."

"thats... fine," tyler said as josh answered the phone and stepped out of the room.

"hello?"

"joshua william dun!"

josh flinched at the sound of his mother's shrill voice coming from the other end of the phone. "yes, mom, hi," he said nervously.

"joshua, you need to come home right now. did you really think i wouldn't find out the truth?"

josh was taken aback by his mother's words. "mom, what are you talking about? the truth about what?"

"don't play dumb with me right now, josh. i know what you're up to. youre with that damn boy from the internet," his mom said. josh struggled to come up with a response.

"w-what? mom, i'm with ashley, i told you-"

"don't even try to lie to me right now, joshua. i know you're not with ashley. i know youre with him. this has gone too far. come home. right now." and without another word, his mother hung up the phone.

"shit!" josh exclaimed, anxiously running his hands through his hair. what was he supposed to do? he knew he had to go home, but what about tyler?

he paced the floor for a few minutes, trying to work up the courage to face tyler again. he'd already disappointed him once, by interrupting their "moment", and he couldn't bear to disappoint him again.

"josh?"

josh turned around to find tyler standing in the doorway behind him.

"josh, is everything okay?"

josh's gaze fell to the floor. "tyler..." he took a deep breath. "tyler, i have to go home."

a look of hurt and confusion flashed over tyler's face. "home? why?"

"that was my mom, as you know, and uh.. she uh.. she just wants me home. that's all." josh continued to stare at the floor, still unable to look at tyler's face.

"josh, your inability to look me in the eyes and talk to me is making me begin to question your honesty."

josh looked up and met tyler's eyes as best as he could in the dark room. "i dont really have time to talk, tyler," he said, his foot beginning to tap with anxiety. "i just have to go home."

tyler raised an eyebrow, not sure if he should believe his words, but stepped aside nonetheless to let josh pass him. josh rushed by and went into his room to pack his things back up. after a minute, tyler followed him and stood outside the room. he just couldnt shake the feeling that something wasnt right with josh's story.

"josh, is it something i did?"

josh put his things down with a sigh. "no, tyler. my mom told me i have to come home." when tyler didn't respond, he continued. "i just... feel bad. i dont want to go."

tyler gave josh a soft smile and walked over to him. "josh, its okay. i understand." he reached for his hand and held it in his own, gently playing with his fingers. "we'll find another way to see each other, okay?"

josh nodded and leaned in to kiss tyler once more before he had to go. "i'll call you," josh said, and picked up his things. without another word, he rushed out of the door and drove off into the storm, leaving tyler alone in the small apartment.
