Jefflyn - Love Is A Strong Word

Chapter One

The beginning of this story is going to start with the fight, and then show a little bit what happened after, and then it'll go to the present. Enjoy! :)

Jeffory's POV

"Katelyn- LISTEN TO ME." I yell at her, grabbing onto her arm. "Jeffory... I can't. You knew what I was going through, my Mom died from cancer! You laughed at me, and left me in the dust! You're a dirtbag!" She yells at me, and that makes me ticked.

A crowd starts to form around us, and I see my sister and brother, Joslyn and Gold staring at me with hard expressions. "Katelyn... I'm sorry. I really am-" I start to say, but I see tears in her eyes that make me shut up. "I haven't cried in ten years Jeffory... I thought you were a good person. I cared about you." She says, and I stay silent. I look at the ground, guilt consuming me. She's right. I'm a jerk.

"I hate you." She spits at me, and I reply without thinking. "Don't worry... I hate you too." She walks up to me, and drops my jacket on the floor. She walks out of the doors, and it hurts that this one time I'm not allowed to run after her.

Katelyn's POV

I just let the tears fall, and storm out of the building. I didn't mean what I said, but I told him everything, and instead of comforting me, he laughed. We've been friends since sixth grade. I take my keys out of my pocket, and unlock my truck.

Jumping in, I throw my bag onto the passenger's seat. I wipe my face, and drive out of the high school parking lot. I hear my phone start ringing, and I take it out of my pocket, answering it. "Hello?" I ask, my voice hoarse. "Katelyn! You sound sad, are you okay?" I hear Aphmau ask through the phone.

"I-I'm fine. Just driving home." I lie, and I know she won't believe that crap. "I'll see you in five minutes with lasagna Katelyn." I hear her say through the phone, and she hangs up. I find myself laughing a little bit by how nice she is. I pull into the driveway, and I see Aphmau standing on my lawn with a tray of lasagna in her hands. I grab my bag and hop out, Aphmau's eyes on me the entire time. "Jeffory?" She asks, and I slowly nod.

"Let's go inside to talk about this." I suggest, and I open the door, my dad asleep on the couch. We walk up the stairs to my room, and she sets the tray on my bed. I toss my bag into the closet, and we both sit on my bed. "Before you say anything Aphmau... I just want to thank you for being such a great friend." I tell her, and she gives me a small smile. "Don't thank me for it, it's my job." She says, and I smile at her reply.

I don't know why, but I always feel happier around her. "Katelyn... I want you to be completely honest. Are you happy?" Aphmau asks, and I hesitate. I look down at my hands, somehow finding myself frowning. "I-I'm not as happy as I used to be. I felt happier when my mom was alive, and when Jeffory was... When Jeffory actually cared about me. Aphmau... I think I might love Jeffory." I tell her, and she smiles, but not her usual smile. A smile that shows that everything is going to be okay.

"I knew you did, ever since that day in sixth grade." She says, handing me a fork. And that night we ate lasagna and told each other things that needed to be confessed. That's the definition of true friendship right there.

The Present

Jeffory's POV

It's the first day of Senior year... Yay. Katelyn still refuses to talk to me, doesn't make eye contact with me, and she doesn't ever talk when we're in the same room. The day after our so called fight, Aphmau painted kitties on my car....... It's now going to be on my car forever.

To be honest, I was really impressed with her artistic skills. I comb through my hair one more time, and open my door to see Joslyn nailing donuts onto Gold's door. I just ignore it, and walk into the kitchen. "First day of Senior Year, are you excited?" My Dad asks me, and I shake my head. "Don't worry, if you try to have fun, it'll be over before you know it." He says, trying to cheer me up.

"I guess." I mumble, grabbing a brownie from the table. "A brownie for breakfast?" Gold asks, a donut in his hand. "Breakfast of champions." I tell him, and he lightly chuckles. "Jeffory... I want to take you somewhere today after school." Joslyn says, walking into the room. "Okay... Where?" I ask, and she smirks. "It's a surprise." She says, a mischievous tone in her voice. Oh... Great.

Katelyn's POV

"Aphmau, you and I both know that I don't like surprises." I tell her, and she just laughs evilly. I bet she's gonna murder me... But I don't think you really can get suffocated by a pile of kittens. "C'mon, it's your Senior year, try to have some fun!" She says, throwing a soccer ball at my head. I catch it with one hand, and give her a blank look.

"You didn't even say think fast, like you always do." I say, dropping the soccer ball to the ground. "Exactly." She says, which causes me to get confused. Well, whatever her surprise is, I hope it doesn't involve anything too stupid.

After School

Joslyn's POV

I quickly tie my boots, and knock on Jeffory's door. He opens it, a sad look on his face. "Wherever you're taking me, please make it quick." He says, putting his jacket on. "Don't worry, this will totally get you out of your grumpy mood." I tell him, and he rolls his eyes. Gosh, Katelyn really does have an effect on him.

He's usually more- nicer. He hands me his car keys, and I just start grinning like an idiot. After a couple of minutes, I park on the dirt road, next to the place where Jeffory and Katelyn first met. "Why are we here?" He asks, his expression softening. I see Aphmau pull up next to us, and Jeffory goes wide eyed.

I push him out of the car, and quickly hop out myself. Jeffory and Katelyn make eye contact, and everything in the world seems to go quiet. "I missed you." Was all Jeffory said, and Katelyn chuckles a little bit. Aphmau and I make eye contact, and we smile at each other. "Someday I'll forgive you, but I'll never be able to feel the same way I did about you." Were the words that rolled off of Katelyn's tongue, and my mouth just sits agape.

That didn't go as planned.
