Chapter Nine

I don't really even need to put this here, but I just want to know how much you guys like this book! Out of a 1-10 what would you rate it? (Ten being the best and one being the worst)

I really want your guys' feedback! (Be honest, I don't care if you tell me this book sucks) :) Hope you all enjoy this very brutal chapter!

Zane's POV

"What are you?" I ask, my heart racing as the man before me turns into part dragon. He's holding me up by my collar, my fingers still barely holding onto the amulet. "I'm a monster." His deep voice rings through my ears, and a guilty yet angered look is plastered on his face. I feel his hands shaking, and a gust of cold wind slaps my face. "Give it to me." He growls, and I hand it to him, and he lets go of me. Joslyn takes it from his hands, and I see another valuable object wrapped around his neck. The temptation to take is surreal, and before I even think twice, I pull it off of his neck. I watch as he turns from part dragon to fully human, and he turns towards me with a furious look on his face. His blonde hair is sticking up everywhere, and in that small amount of time, I take it to run in a different direction.

Erik's POV
"Where is she?" I ask bluntly, the doctor in front of me stapling some papers together. He looks up at me, and then turns to his computer, typing in a long code or something that's wasting my time. "Katelyn Azura is currently in room 412, but only doctors and nurses are permitted to go in there." The man says, and old memories flash in my mind.

"I'm sorry, but your wife is very unstable. The cancer is spreading rapidly, and I think she only has a couple more hours to live. Doctors and nurses are only allowed to go in there, but I'll allow you to go in and see her." The nurse takes me to the exact same room; 412.

Tears are rolling down my cheeks as I look at my own wife lying in her death bed. A gentle smile is resting on her face, and I wrap my arms around her. I'm sobbing, and the last five words she whispers into my ear are touching yet ridiculous.

"I love you, you idiot."

My arms are wrapped around my legs, my back leaning against the lower part of the counter. Multiple doctors are surrounding me, worried looks on their faces. Physical pain is spreading throughout my body, an black dots slowly blur my vision.

"He's having a heart attack!"

I cough up something blue, and I feel myself get lifted onto a bed. The pain is excruciating, and while they're pushing me down the hall, I get one small glimpse of Katelyn.

Holy crap, I'm gonna die.

Jeffory's POV
I hear Aaron start chuckling, and I can't seem to hide my own curiosity. "Why are you laughing?" I ask, and he turns towards me almost immediately. He lets out a long sigh, as if he's about to let out his deepest darkest secret. "My plan- it's working perfectly." He laughs, a tiny bit of guilt evident in his voice. "What's your plan?" I ask, the metal attached to my arms sinking into my bare skin. He walks up to me slowly, the sound of his footsteps echoing throughout the cold and stark room. "My plan? My plan is to keep Katelyn Azura in her coma. I won't give Aphmau a chance to let her back into this world that easily." He spits at me, and I'm suddenly full of rage. Because of the binding position I'm in, I hit him with my own head, and he topples over. Barely regaining his balance, he holds his sword to my neck. "Idiot Destrey." He seethes, his hands slightly shaking. "Stop it. Let her out of her coma or I will kill you with my bare hands." I threaten him, and he laughs like a maniac. "Kill me?! You think you can kill me with your bare hands? With the position you're in, I wouldn't even attempt to threaten me." He says, and he pulls the sword away from my neck. I take that split second to pull the chains off of the walls, and I push him to to the ground. I grab the sword from his hands, and hold it up against his neck.

"Let her out of her coma, or I will kill you right here, right now."

Joslyn's POV
"GOLD, STOP." I yell at my brother, and he looks over at me with his jaw clenched. His eyes are gray, and he has a broken necklace dangling in his hand. The black haired is behind him, a smirk on his face... and I feel my gut drop. What did he do to him? "Gold?" I ask cautiously, and he picks up his golden sword that's laying on the ground. I take a couple steps back, and I accidentally back up into the other man with white hair. His eyes are also gray, and he's holding a red sword. "Attack." I hear the black haired man say, and I take that chance to run. Gold barely slashes me with his sword, and I let out a small yell. The white haired man is still standing where he was, and Gold pins me to a tree, his sword held up against my neck. The wound on my arm is severely bleeding, and I punch Gold in the face, not really intending to. "Stop." I hear someone say, and I don't know who exactly it was. Looking up at Gold, his eyes turn back into their regular green color. There's a bruise on his cheek, and he looks at me with wide eyes. He doesn't say anything, and turns towards the black haired with sword in hand. Before Gold can do any damage, I hear a gunshot go off, and my ears start ringing. The black haired man falls onto the ground limp, and Gold grabs onto my hand, and we run away from all of the chaos. More and more gunshots go off, and I find myself wishing Jeffory were here. I wish Jeffory and Katelyn were here. He'd probably be telling bad jokes, and she'd just laugh along, all of us enjoying each other's company. Then realization hits me. And a gun is pointed at my head.

CLIFFHANGER! Haha... This was an awful chapter, but I hope you all enjoyed Chapter Nine!
