Holy Moly this story is already to 700 views?! That's insane! Thank you all for the support and kind words!
Some of you have been bugging me lately about updating my stories... *cough* Goldendragonseal *cough* Haha, sorry for chucking you under the bus. (Go check her out if you haven't) And yes I'm not dead!
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this chapter!
Gold's POV
This is perfect. Aaron is unconscious, Peter is an idiot, and Landon... Wait- where is Landon?! I look in every single direction possible, but no sign of him running away are clear. "Where'd Landon go?" I ask Joslyn, and she does the exact same thing I did, looking confused. She shrugs, not really taking the matter seriously.
It bugs me, but I'll keep my mouth shut until Peter here gets punished. I gaze off into the distance for a moment, not really thinking... Until it hits me. The healing potion. I dig through every single one of Aaron's pockets, but they're all empty. WHAT? I look up at Joslyn, and she gives me a cautious look. "Aaron had Jeffory. Aaron's now unconscious.. and Jeffory's gone." She says aloud, and I look more deeply into the dirt.
And there are Jeffory's footprints.
Erik's POV
Do you ever have that feeling where you're slightly dead but slightly alive? Yeah, that's what I'm feeling right now and it's a pain. They keep shining a light in my eyes, and I'm tempted to slap them. But I'm unable to move my arms... I'm unable to do anything. I just stare at the doctor above me, a concerned look on his face as he looks at his clipboard.
Wait... Katelyn. With all of the strength and willpower in my body, I somehow manage to sit up. I look around the room, and the two doctors in there with me, including a nurse, stare at me shocked. "Sir, we need you to lay back down." One of the doctors says sternly, but I completely ignore her. I turn my head to the right, and through a small window I see my little girl laying there.. motionless. The sight makes me happy and sad.
Happy for being able to see that she's alive and breathing, but sad knowing what's happened to her. How much pain I've put her through. Letting her watch as her mother goes brain dead on her fourteenth birthday. Telling her to fight back when she's breaking down on the inside. Not keeping my eye on her every second of the day like every parent should do. And that one mistake might just kill her.
And how much one word can change someones' heart.
Jeffory's POV
I don't know how happy I should be right now honestly. I mean, I'm ecstatic to see Katelyn again, but I know how much I've hurt her. Both physically and emotionally. My life's been a mess. It's insane how much someone could change that quickly. It's like time is just passing and I'm the one with the flat tire.
Either I'll catch up with time, or time will leave me in the dust. I continue walking down the dirt road, until meeting up with a small sign that points to my home town about five miles down the road. All I see are trees though, and my instincts are itching me to make sure I'm safe. I look in every direction possible, and all seems well.
Until I hear a small whimper about six yards away from me, and an awful stench slaps me in the face. Cautiously, I walk towards the noise with a sword in my hand. Aaron's sword to be specific. I push away the bushes, and probably eight or nine wolves are laying on the ground either dead or badly injured. They're too tired and sore to look at me, or even notice my presence to attack me.
It's quite shocking, really. I look around cautiously once again, until seeing dried up blood in the dirt and moss. And the shockingly vivid dream makes it way into my thoughts once again... I almost killed Katelyn.
This was the exact spot she was attacked.
Aaron's POV
Opening my eyes, I see a body tied to a tree along with a note. I get up, popping my knuckles as the person goes wide eyed. "Aaron Lyken." The man gulps, and I laugh while picking up the poorly written note.
Hello Aaron. We know how much of a great guy you are, so we dropped you off a present. Punish Him.
Signed, Your Worst Nightmare
I crumple the paper in my hands while chucking it aside. "Your name?" I ask, and the man hesitates nervously, his hands shaking. "P-Peter." He mutters, and I squat down in from of him. "Well... Peter. I can't argue with the note, so I want you to find Jeffory Destrey." I tell him, and he nods while I cut the binding ropes off of his arms and chest.
He does this weird bow thing while walking off in a different direction. And I just stare blankly as he walks away. "Your Worst Nightmare? Pathetic." I mumble under my breath until I hear gunshots go off.
Isn't this my lucky day?..
Travis' POV
"Travis." His voice is like a nonstop stereo playing in my head. How one man can ruin thousands, even millions of peoples' lives in that short lifespan. It's frustrating, knowing that the devil himself is my father. The one I actually trusted for most of my life, it's disgusting. I'm outside of the hospital, having no idea what to do... No idea how to save Katelyn.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts when a woman walks up to me, a mask and hoodie covering her hair and eyes. She just stands there, her breathing a little uneven. "Can I help you?" I ask, and she sits down next to me on the bench. "You're Travis. I've seen your face everywhere and I can't believe no one has turned you in yet." The woman says, and I tense up, afraid of her next move.
"Don't worry, I'm not looking for any money. But I know how much agony your Father has put millions of people through. How much of my happiness he took away from me." The woman says, a smile still resting on her face. Holy crap, she's crazy. But she still continues taking.
"I know why you're here. You're trying to save Katelyn Azura, but have no idea what to do. But because you're here sitting on your butt, Jeffory Destrey is gonna be the big hero in this big mess, and you're gonna be left behind. No one will no your name. You'll be long forgotten and no one will even want to find you even though you have four million dollars on your head. Unless you start being useful, and start helping with the situation... My prediction will no longer be a fact." And on the end of that note, the woman takes off her hood. I'm blinded by her bright orange hair, and her dark red eyes gaze into mine.
Holy, my professional stalker is already a step ahead of me.
