Katelyn's POV
Everyone just stares at me, blank looks on their faces. "I just... You're a bad influence on me Jeffory." I say truthfully. For the past couple of years, he's picked up some really bad habits. I think I've even seen him drink once. He just slowly nods, opening his mouth to speak, but just leaves it barely agape.
A hurt look is on his face, but I don't want to care about anything right now. I've tried to give up so many times, but I always hear her voice in my head, those last couple of words she said to me before dying. "Never give up, I will always be there." That last sentence she said to me, has helped me through so much.
I snap out of my gaze, and see Jeffory and Joslyn drive away. I guess we weren't meant to be together after all. "Katelyn... Did you really mean that?" Aphmau asks carefully. "I loved him Aphmau." Is all I tell her before it just starts pouring down rain. I push the hair out of my face, and Aphmau just nods.
I just sigh, a frown on my face. I don't hate him, I'll never hate him. It's just those tempting lies that come out of my mouth that I'll always regret. "I'm walking home." I tell her, and she shakes her head. "It's pouring rain." She says, and I look at the ground. "I deserve it, I'll see you tomorrow." I tell her, pushing her into the car. She gives me a sad smile, and slowly drives away.
When she's out of sight, I fall onto my knees. I scream, and hear the thunder start rolling in. "Why, why?!" I scream, tears threatening to spill out. I've never flipped out so badly, Jeffory had that one charm I just held onto for so many years. And now he hates me.
Gold's POV
"Wow... Sorry man." I tell Jeffory as he walks into his room. "I feel so sorry for him, they've been friends since they were twelve." Joslyn says, taking one of the donuts off of my door. I nod, and suddenly feel something hit my head. I look up, and there's a leak in the roof.
"Great." I mumble, taking a couple steps back. "Not it." Joslyn says, going to her room. I roll my eyes, and go to the garage to grab a bucket. Stepping inside, I trip on something, and fall flat on my face. "Dangit." I say, a bruise forming on my cheek from the concrete. I look to see what I tripped on, and it's a little book. Jeffory + Katelyn is on the cover, and I frown.
Opening the book, I see hundreds of collages with pictures of Jeffory and Katelyn. Holy crap, they were really great friends. I imagine them reconnecting in their thirties, and getting married. Laughing at the weird thought, I put the book under my arm.
I finally find a bucket on one of the shelves, and walk back into the kitchen. I place the bucket under where the water is dripping, and head towards Jeffory's room. I don't knock before walking in, and I see him sitting on his bed, a sorrow look on his face.
I place the book down on his bed before adding "Katelyn doesn't hate you Jeffory, just know that. Nobody should ever be allowed to use that word, it's what causes mental wars. You shouldn't have laughed at her when she told you her mom died from cancer, you should know that. She just is mad at you, because what you did was really rude. Also, the first time you introduced her to me, she told me that she loved you."
He sighs, running his hand through his hair while carefully touching the book. "Thanks Gold, I really needed that. I know she will forgive me someday, but she told me that she'll never love me again." He says sadly, his eyes turning a light gray color. "Well, just know that some people are just meant to be friends. Everybody has their own soulmate, even if you don't find them in this life." I add on, and Jeffory opens the book, giving me a small smile.
Before he says anything else, I see Joslyn start videoing with her camera. She gives me a thumbs up, and I quickly ask "Do you love Katelyn?" He doesn't hesitate before answering, "Yes, I truly am in love with Katelyn. I always get that weird feeling when she walks into the room. I don't want to be cheesy, but I just love her for who she truly is.
She doesn't try to change so I'll like her, she acts like herself, and I really admire her for that. The day that I met her was probably one of the happiest days of my life. I remember, she didn't have her two front teeth, so she had this lisp while talking. She's so kind, so courageous, I don't get how she does it. She's just... I love her."
I smile, and Joslyn stops the recording. "Don't tell her I said that." He warns, and I quickly nod, playing with the dragon necklace on my neck. "I just... Need some time to think about this, to get over what she said." He says, and I smile, walking out of his room. Joslyn and I high five, but I quickly add, "Don't show that to Katelyn just yet, I want her to see it later." Joslyn nods, closing her camera.
Katelyn's POV
I wrap my arms around myself as more rain pours down on me. I'm probably gonna get hypothermia, dangit. I lean against a tree while pushing hair out of my face. I spit on the ground, and I hear something growl behind me. No, please no. I turn around, and see an eight foot bear standing before me.
I don't scream, I don't cry, I simply stand there, waiting to die. Before it's paw scratches my face, I hear a gunshot go off. The bear falls over, blood staining it's own fur. I look around to see who saved me, and a boy with white hair sits in the tree. "Hey princess! I don't know if you were going to say thank you for saving your butt back there, but you're welcome! By the way, the name's Travis." Travis says, sending me a wink.
He jumps down from the tree, and puts his gun in his holster. I blink slowly, my whole body numb from the cold. "Are you okay?" He asks, walking closer to me, and I literally fall into his arms. "You're freezing!" He yells, sitting me down against a tree. He takes his jacket off, and wraps it around me.
Before I fall asleep, I feel Travis' arms wrap around me. "This is for warmth, you're hotness isn't really working right now. But that's okay, you're the first person I've ever snuggled with," He says, and I let my eyes close, and let sleep overcome me.
