Scandal 12 – In which the princess sends a banana loaf
Anya woke up early, she was planning on visiting Anton today. She even asked the chef in the consulate to make the banana loaf Anton loved years ago. Anya didn’t know how to cook nor bake.
She took her bath and begun dressing for her visit. It was a good thing the Countess was still abed she didn't need Mila to ask her about her schedule for today.
Claudia held up the white satin dress and Anya nodded her approval, Claudia helped her into the dress. Anya looked into the mirror as Claudia helped her zipped her dress, “The pearls or diamond?” she asked as she trailed her fingers into her bared neck.
“Pearls will do honey.”
She didn’t need to turn around to know if the reflection she was looking at the mirror was her mother, it was her alright. She sighed and looked at her mother via the mirror. “What are you doing here mother?”
“We got brunch today honey with the Crisostomo’s have you forgotten about your promise with Alona?” Amelia Petrovna raised her eyebrow.
She had forgotten about the brunch, she was so preoccupied with other things that she forgot about it. It was a society brunch and of course she needed to go but Anton was sick.
“My schedule changed so please send my regrets to Tita Alona.” Anya said, she knew Anton was alone in that big house of his, she needed to take care of him and after what happened yesterday, she sure needed to make up for it.
Her mother strode inside her closet, took off her gloves and sat on the settee in the middle of her closet. She set aside the gloves at her side. “I noticed a box of banana loaves at the foyer when I entered the house.” She commented.
Anya stilled, Amelia knew about the banana loaf, she tried to bake before for Anton but ended up being a mess. Her mother wasn’t so thrilled with it. “So? I’m craving for it.”
“I’m sure you are.” Amelia said dryly. “You shouldn’t though. You should crave for walnut pies, have you not missed the taste of it?”
Anya rolled her eyes and she saw that Claudia hid her smile. Only her mother would make Claudia loosen her composure as a lady’s maid. “I think I’ll go with the diamonds, Claudia.” She told Claudia.
Claudia nodded and walked towards the jewelry sets and took the diamond necklace with the earrings back to Anya. She handed Anya the earrings and she placed the necklace on Anya’s neck gently.
“Have you talked with the prince?”
Anya didn’t want to talk about it, Roderick promised he’d visit but he didn’t, instead he went back to Denmark without her again. She thought that if Roderick came to Manila, they’d go back to Denmark together.
