Scandal 16 – In which the princess shocks the wife

Cassandra leaned her head over the window and closed her eyes. They’ve been driving for almost two hours now, the traffic was bad and she was tired already. Linda hinted they stopped at the rest stop but she told them to proceed.

She said she’d feel better if she rest in bed. Linda and her driver kept throwing her worried glances over the rearview mirror, she knew Linda was concerned over her health after all it had just been a week after her accident.

And also her body had been giving signs of weakness, her medications weren’t working as it had been before, Linda knew that, she even insisted it was time to visit Dr. Torres. But Cassandra held firm on her decision.

Pagod na siyang tignan siya ng mga staff niya ng awa, alam niyang ibang dahilan yung awa nila. Dahil ito sa pagkawala ng baby niya at hindi dahil alam nila na may sakit siya.

Pero kahit na pakiramdam parin niya alam ng mga ito yung sikreto niya. And it was suffocating. It was so suffocating, to feel their pities on the poor wife who had lost her baby. It was as if she was back in the past where all she could see was the pities of James’ servant.

As soon as her eyes closed, her mind brought her back to the past, to the one of the painful memories she so wanted to forget…

It was one of those days. The days were she weren’t mad at James, when she didn’t hate him. It was those days, the days were she missed him like crazy and hoping that he’d come for her.

 

She was in those days. The psychiatrist she had then told her it was natural, she was just been into an accident and miscarried and she was a new bride so it was natural to feel those things about her husband.

 

So there were days when she hated him with all her heart—that was her true feelings for James—and there were days when her heart ached for him. Her mood was missing him today.

 

So all day, she was moping around the house. James old dragon for an aunt finally had enough of her moping so she insisted she accompany her to one of those London society functions.

 

Linda helped her with her dress, she was wearing one of the evening gowns James bought her when she was still pregnant and was showing her baby bumps. Linda even insisted not to wear it because she looked plump but she missed James and this dress reminded her that James cared for her.

 

They were standing at the top of the stairs and waiting for the butler to announce them. “The Dowager Countess and Countess of Rosslyn.” As soon as the butler announced them, all heads turned.

 

Suddenly Cassandra was nervous, this was her first society party after the accident and wedding so she didn’t know what to expect. “Don’t embarrass me gel.” Aunt Mildred whispered to her.

 

She stiffened and with a tense nod, she let her Aunt Mildred lead her to those old dragon women just like her aunt. They eyed her liked she was some jester.
