Scandal 54 – In which the husband spies his wife
Cassandra was seated at the settee by the window of her room, she had to smile at the irony of it. She was just staring ahead and she couldn’t even see a damn thing. Her room faced the garden and today the garden was filled with guests and flowers and other decorations for today was Veronica’s wedding.
She couldn’t attend the wedding.
She felt her tears fall, she brushed it aside but she was indeed in pain. She had worked so hard for this wedding, she tired herself to make this wedding perfect and she wanted to see Veronica in her white wedding gown.
But she couldn’t. Her sight wasn’t back yet. And she was stuck in her room because people might notice her sudden blindness especially if she kept staring straight ahead.
She heard the music play, the ceremony was about to start.
She listened to the ceremony, she heard the vicar spoke of marriage and its foundation. She heard the vows Veronica and Somerset made and lastly she heard the cheers.
She wished she could see how happy Veronica was because the truth was, when she was organizing this wedding, it wasn’t so much for Veronica it was also for her. She never got to plan her own wedding.
Sure she got engaged with James before things went downhill for them but with the pregnancy and James being so over-protective they had decided to wait till the baby was born.
Then the accident happened and James forced her to marry her if not he’d ruin Hunter. She didn’t have a choice but to come to the day of her own wedding.
James had it all planned out, including her wedding dress. So really she didn't plan her wedding, and she’d be lying if she’d say that she didn’t mind. Come on, she was still a woman. Every little girls planned their own dream wedding right from the moment they could think of marriage.
And she didn’t. Nothing with her wedding with James was even included in her plan for her dream wedding. Especially when no one had even walked her down the aisle. Every little girls’ dream was for their father to walk them down the aisle and she never got that.
Although she never really expected he would eventually. But a girl got to dream.
She heard the door opened and assumed it was Linda but then she recognized that smell, it was true when they said that when one sense was gone, the other senses intensify. Especially her hearing.
“James.” She called out.
“Hey, I brought you some food.” James said and she heard his footsteps going near her, “Are you still unwell?”
She nodded, she was telling the truth anyway. She would always be unwell from now on. God, just thinking about it actually want to make her cry again. “Can you hold me?” she asked because being in his arms felt so good, it made her forget everything.
