Scandal 55 – In which the fool comes to the party
She squeezed Aunt Mildred’s arm, “Can you escort me to the library. I need to rest.”
“Let’s go back to your room.”
“Please, just escort me to the library.”
She was panicking. She couldn’t see who it was.
“God, I’m right.” Silas pained voice loomed over the room, he placed his hands on her knees.
“Silas.” She started, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You’re blind!”
Her tears fell, “Am I that obvious?” because if she was then maybe everyone already knew it.
“For a doctor it is.” Silas said, “What happened?” he asked, “You were alright last night.” She felt his hand on her arms, she didn’t know what he was doing though.
“It’s nothing.”
Silas groaned as if in pain, “How long? How long have you had cancer?” he asked. She gasped, but then she really ought to realize that Silas would see through it all, after all he was a doctor, “Why, why didn’t you tell me?”
She moved her hand over his head, “There was nothing you could do.”
