I walked out of my home, only to be greeted by photographers. They were all trying to catch photos of me before I left. I smiled politely and walked towards the car at the end of the drive.
It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. It was long and sleek and had two rows of white seating on the inside. I asked the driver the name of the the car and he said it was called a limo. I personally didn't like it. There was very little space and I couldn't see out the windows. I much preferred walking.
By the time we got to the town square, there was a huge crowd. I hadn't even noticed we had this many people in the town. They probably came from some other town.
The door beside me opened, and I stumbled out of the car, blinded by the sunlight. I walked towards the stage, where the mayor would speak. I was simply amazed at the amount of people that came.
As I walked up the steps, my legs wobbled a little bit. I wasn't sure I was ready for this kind of attention.
The mayor began speaking. "Good morning! Today we are here to send off the lovely Miss Harrick!"
I just smiled as I looked across the stage to the large crowd in front of me, while the mayor said his speech. It was rather short, but got to the point. By the end, I was sure everyone in the province was voting for me to win.
I was slightly surprised when the mayor asked if I would like to say some words. I accepted, wanting to make a good impression.
"So, I just want to say thank you. Thanks to everyone who has helped me live my life. Thank you to my family, and the Keepers." I said, while looking Ainsley in the eyes. "You have helped me get through my life. I also would like to thank Smither's Bakery for all the bread you have given me. I wish I could stay longer, but the palace has called for me, and I must go. Thank you."
As I finished, a maid guided me off stage and took me to a small area, roped off to keep the people away.
"This is where you can say goodbye to your family and friends, Lady Grey."
"Thank you." I said, breathless.
I stood there for a few seconds until my mom came running and hugged me.
"I know you'll do great. You have nothing to worry about. I promise." She mumbled into my hair.
"Thank you, Mom. For everything. I love you." I said with tears welling up in my eyes.
"I love you too, Grey."
With that she left and I was greeted by Jake.
"Hey, make friends with the Prince while you're there. Maybe I can come and meet him!" He wondered aloud, excitedly.
"I'll see what I can do." I laughed.
"I'm going to miss you."
"Me too, Jake, me too."
My final guest appeared moments later, wearing a black tee shirt covered in flour.
"You couldn't even change into a clean shirt, could you?"
"Never. I prefer the contrast of white to black, but apparently you don't." Walter said with a smile.
"I don't know, I just thought you could have, hmm, spruced up the outfit differently. Maybe add some rhinestones. That could look nice."
