I stepped onto the plush carpet that lined the hallway, my heels sinking in. These were going to be hard to walk in.
I walked over to the marble steps, hoping I wouldn't trip. This dress definitely wasn't making anything any easier. I spotted Leni a few steps down and rushed to catch up with her. Easier said than done.
"Hey Leni."
"Hi. Wow, you look amazing." She said.
"Thank you." I responded. "I love the color yellow on you."
"Really? I wasn't sure if it was too much."
"Really." I assured.
"Thanks."
"We better hurry up though," I said. "Don't want to be late."
"Yeah, let's get going."
We entered the Dining Room to be greeted by many of the other Selected. There were still a few missing, but the majority was here. I looked around, trying to figure out who all was missing still, when Leni tugged my arm.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Look, Quinn's waving us over."
"Oh." I hadn't even realized Quinn was here.
I sat to Quinn's right and Leni's left. We chatted quietly until two minutes remained. Everyone was here except for Paige. Of course.
With no less than thirty seconds remaining, the doors to the room opened widely and Paige strutted in. She was wearing a red dress with an empire waist. She had on so much jewelry it was blinding.
"Sorry I'm late," She said while flipping her beautifully curled hair over her shoulder. "It is very difficult to look this good."
She sat down in her seat, which just so happened to be next to one of the only empty seats that belonged to the Royal Family.
"Ugh, she totally did that on purpose." Leni said to my right.
"Yeah, probably trying to get our attention." Quinn whispered.
"It definitely worked." I said with a grimace.
Everyone went silent as the doors opened again. This time the Royal Family walked in, instead of Paige. King Joshua sat at the head of the table with Queen Ginger to his left. Next to the Queen sat Prince Benetton. Opposite the Prince and next to Paige was Prince Nicholas. He was the Prince's older brother. We all curtsied then sat back down to begin the meal.
Everyone chatted quietly to their neighbors, never raising their voice above a ladylike whisper. The Queen was talking to Prince Benneton about something serious it seemed.
"I'm a little nervous for after dinner." Leni said beside me.
"That's when we meet the Prince, right?" I asked, unsure.
"Yes! And I'm afraid he won't like me or think I'm ugly." She worried.
"Trust me," I promised. "He'll like you."
"I really hope you're right."

Once the Prince was finished eating, he rose out of his seat.
"Once you are finished eating, you may come meet me in the room to the left. This is just so I can get acquainted with you all. I'm sorry if I butcher your name, I haven't looked at your application yet because I'd like to learn everything about you first hand."
He walked out of the room and into the sitting room. I still had quite a bit to eat, so I knew I wouldn't meet him for a little bit. I looked over and saw the Queen holding in a laugh as some of the girls stuffed food in their faces. They use really want to meet the Prince.
