"Alright ladies, today I am going to be explaining your new project." June clasped her hands together while looking at the class, which seemed to be buzzing with energy."I wonder what it is?" Quinn thought aloud.
I shrugged and turned my focus back to June.
Paige raised her hand. "What is this project, exactly?"
"Well, if you'd let me finish, I would be able to tell you." She glared at Paige, who seemed to be thinking of other important things while she flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder.
I glanced over at Quinn who seemed to be holding in her laughter as well.
"Moving on," June said while pointing to a whiteboard with a long stick. "This project will be a group project. There will be three groups of nine." A few girls gasped and looked around finding their friends, hoping to be in the same group. I looked over to Quinn and held her hand.
"For this project you will be designing a float. The palace is holding a parade in honor of the Selection, so who better to design the floats than the Selected themselves!" She pointed to the board and began giving us pointers on what and what not to do.
The time flew by as I was running different float ideas through my head. "Alright, girls, time for your groups."
I looked over to Quinn who seemed to look quite worried. It wasn't the end of the world if we weren't in the same group, but it would be much easier since we knew each other's strengths and weaknesses.
"Group One:" she began to write on the board. "Lady Benli, Arden, Coral, Melani, Arielle, December, Reagan, Julia, and Addelyn. You will be Group One. Group Two will consist of Lady Everlyn, Paige, Harley, Grey, Ampra, Phryne, Limbelle, Freesia, and Lady Sapphire.
"Finally Group Three will be Lady Rosaline, Lena, Lusia, Acacia, Leni, Nali, Anastasia, Lady Quinn, and Lady Lizbeth."
I could feel my face drop as I realized I wasn't in Quinn or Leni's group. Instead I had to deal with Paige. This was going to be one long project considering the parade was in a week.

Minus the hour of getting lost in the halls, I thought I made pretty good time. I eventually had to ask a maid for directions to the library, otherwise I still might be wandering the halls. The doors to the library were huge: full on floor to ceiling things, large enough to squash someone.
I stepped in and was immediately swarmed with the smell of old books. I never had the luxury of books until I came to the palace, though I still haven't been to the library before. As I was walking though the aisles of books, my foot got stuck on something and I tripped. Before I could hit the ground, strong arms caught me. I looked up to see the deep hazel eyes of Prince Nicholas.
I smiled awkwardly before being helped to my feet. "Thanks, um, for catching me."
"You got my note," he whispered in my ear. "And you came."
"What?" I asked, feigning confusion.
"The note," he tried to elaborate. "The one outside your door last night."
"I thought it was your brother, not you!" I exclaimed, confused. "That's why I came."
"Ahh, I see, you came because you like my brother more than me."
"Yes." The words were out of my mouth before I processed what he had actually said.
"You don't like me?" He queried.
