Chapter 22

Everyone makes small talk in the car. We are all squashed.

I turn to Caspar to listen to a story he's telling Kyara, her slight giggles tell me it's quite interesting. I notice Caspar's a little tanner than usual. But somehow the tan looks like a really non-natural orange, like he has put the wrong colour foundation on.

"Hey Caspar did you get a fake tan?" I say a laugh behind my voice.

"I might have put on a little too much of the overnight tan on" Caspar's cheeks goes red and he shies away from everyone.

"Try helping him put it on, it's all, 'you better get a good coverage otherwise I'll look spotty tomorrow' " Joe laughs.

"More like an orange" I laugh jokingly.

"I think half of the girls in Australia would be more masculine than that" Kyara joins the taunt.

"Okay, okay I get it, I do have to keep my look up for the ladies though" he smirks jokingly.

"If they like the annoying orange then you'll do great" Dan says.

"BUUUUUURRRRNNNNNTTT" Kyara and I scream.

"Good one" I say to Dan laughing.

"It's been pent up there for a while" Dan smiles.

"So am I just here to be the circus monkey that everyone laughs at, what's next, are you going to call me a pineapple again" Caspar fake pouts.

"aww poor baby" Kyara pulls Caspar's long body over hers into what looks like a very weird hug.

I look over to Dan he looks a bit uncomfortable in the car due to his lankiness, Phil as well.

I wouldn't imagine them hanging out with Joe and Caspar and the gang that much as we have been in the last week. I smile to myself in appreciation as I think of how out of there comfort zone they may be.

"So what's the plan with Amanda? Does she know we're coming?" Phil asks.

"No she doesn't even know we know you guys yet, she hasn't had internet and stuff like that and I didn't mention it to her so it's going to take her totally off guard" Kyara smiles.

"I can't wait to see her, it's been like 5 years although you must be excited Kyara you are best friends with her" I beam.

"I'm going to explode with excitement if the plane doesn't come soon enough" Kyara says in reply.

We arrive at the airport shortly after that and I stare at the big solid metal beams coming out of the ground. The glass windows shimmering from the artificial light of the lamp post.

"I see we meet again" I nudge Kyara and point at the airport.

"Yeah long time no see" Kyara laughs.

I stray to the back of the group and look at the one group divided into little groups that hold their own conversations. Joe falls behind with me staring at his feet and fiddling with his fingers.

"So I was thinking of asking out Kyara tonight but maybe I thought it would be a bit much with your friend Amanda coming if she even likes me at all" Joe says to me. I look back at him stunned.

"Finally someone asks the best friend! They found out they might have useful information" I laugh lightly.

"Don't you get asked these things a lot?" Joe says and laughs with me.

"No, everyone has usually taken it into their own hands" I say tugging a piece of hair behind my ear.

"So what do you think?" joe says nervous and hopeful as he looks at me his eyes quite wide as they reflect the light off them. I feel a wave of nervousness fall over me as I know the warning I have to tell him is not so good.

"Look Kyara has had a past with guys and a lot of them have been dumb teenagers so it was not the peak of their maturity but regardless they kind of left her with no notice and it didn't go well, so she's more careful now which I guess is a good thing but what I'm trying to say is she might not be ready for another go yet" I ramble.

"This is why they don't ask the best friend, they get the warning" Joe laughs sadly.

"I think you should still ask her out, I not saying it's totally out of the picture you're Joe Sugg for god's sake but timing is key" I say and smile at him.

"I'm hoping it's not just the name that she likes" Joe says.

"No she's definitely into you and now the warning is over, I think you should ask her out after Amanda comes because aren't we going to yours after?" I ask him.

"Yeah she mentioned it" Joe says.

"Okay so Amanda will come and she'll be all happy and shit and then you guys will surprise Amanda and I'm warning you now we're probably going to cry and maybe on the way back to the car or something take her aside from the rest of the group and I can talk to Amanda while you talk to her so she doesn't interrupt you and hopefully everything will go amazing" I say excited and also slightly nervous for Kyara and Joe.

"Okay it sounds good I'm really nervous and I really like Kyara" Joe says.

"You'll do great" I smile at his genuine nervousness for a girl.

"Hey what do you two slow pokes want for dinner" Kyara says skipping over.

"Maybe a McDonald's I've been craving their chips and soft serve ice cream for a while" Joe says.

"It'll have to be my cheat day" Caspar says.

"I have been trying to eat healthier" Joe says.

"Tonight is a night of celebration, my beloved friend is coming to move in, to hell with diets I'm getting McDonald's" Kyara says raising her arms.

"Or you can be lame and order something healthy up to you" Kyara says raising her eyebrows into a sassy face.

"I'm up for it I haven't had McDonald's in ages" Ollie says. And with that we head to the golden arches that lead to my two hundred pound life.
