Chapter 7

"Start off then" Dan says.

"Uuh what's your favourite colour?" I ask.

"Black like my black hole of a soul" Dan says jokingly.

"Deep. Your go" I say.

"What's your favourite tv show?" Dan says.

"I have many favourites, but I think my true favourite is American Horror Story" I say.

"What's your favourite music?" I ask.

"I like muse, fall out boy that kind of stuff. Any siblings?" Dan asks.

"Yeah I have two little sisters. Uh I'm starting to run out of questions, what's your favourite country to visit?" I ask.

"How can you even call yourself a fan? Japan of course" he says.

"I am severely offended that you didn't say Australia" I say gasping.

"Sorry I don't want to relive my sun stroke situation" Dan says. We arrive at the Tesco and it's bloody enormous.

"How do you not get lost in these things?" I say in pure amazement.

"Trust me, when I just moved here I did get lost a few times" Dan says.

"I think Kyara would like some fruit and vegetables because she's the responsible and healthy eater, we better get a shopping trolley" I say.

"Are you actually vegan?" I ask.

"Well I try to be" Dan laughs and looking at the ground. 

"It's the thought that counts" I say with a laugh.

"Honestly I don't know if I could even be a vegan myself, I'd miss too much" I continue. 

"It's not that bad you get used to it, the hardest thing is eating out" Dan says.

"OHMYGODDANHOWELL" a girl says wearing the Dan and Phil merch.

Honestly I don't know a person could make that pitch, mutter those sounds and call it English. But to be fair that's probably how I sounded when I first met him.

"Can I please have a picture?" she says grabbing her phone while her hands shook.

"Yeah, do you want me to hold the phone? We can get a higher angle because I am a giraffe" Dan smiles sweetly at the girl.

"Yeah thank you. I love your videos" she says quickly before they snap a few shots.

I stare frozen and awkward in this encounter. What if she sees that I was with him? I don't think he would want that attention that he has a new 'friend'.

She seems to be absorbed in Dan's presence though.

I slowly back away and quickly become very interested in some carrots. The girls mum starts to wave her over she waves a quick goodbye and another hug and goes to the cash register with her mum.

"Sorry about that" Dan walk over.

"That's fine, I would expect you get that any way" I say.

"You just seemed a bit scared" Dan laughed.

"Well I don't get girls running up to me every day so I'm not exactly used to that" I say.

"Neither am I to be honest" Dan says.

"You know out of all the things that seem different about you from your YouTube channel, the one thing I notice is you walk really freaking weirdly" I say.

"Thanks I've always wanted to walk really weirdly" Dan says with a chuckle.

"My pleasure" I say.

"So what's it like having fans just come up to you like that" I ask.

"Well it's kind of weird because you never really get used to it. You never really know who's going to come up to you especially now Phil and I have a radio show we have such a wider audience. But most of the time it's cool because you get to meet heaps of nice people. Except if you really don't want to talk to anyone than that's a bit problematic" Dan says.

"What about rumours? They must be hard" I say looking up to Dan.

"Yeah I've had to keep a lot of things hidden from the internet because of that. Things like is phan is problematic though because it just hurts Phil's and I relationship. We did question for a while if we did like each other deep down and it got really hard but we fixed it up and we are better friends now" Dan says.

"Yeah, they do make it look so real. I would think I was falling for my best friend if that was all over the internet. I felt so bad because I didn't really believe it then I thought 'what if he is then I'd be blocking out his true self' but I didn't want to put you into the category of gay because you were saying that you weren't" I say.

"Yeah don't worry, I'm not gay. It's just made my friendship stronger with Phil and now I know what my sexuality is, if that doesn't sound too deep" Dan says.

"Yeah I get you" I say. We walk down the cereal aisle that shows an array of colourful boxes with happy cartoons on them.

"Do you have a recommended cereal?" I ask.

"I like captain crunch and Phil seems to as well because he always steals it" Dan says.

"Captain Crunch it is" I say grabbing one and putting it in to the trolley. 

We get some wholemeal bread curtesy of Kyara. We also get some milk, chicken, vegetables and all that kind of grocery stuff and by the time we are done tour trolley is filled to the top.

"I wonder if Kyara is home yet, it's getting pretty late" I say looking at the time on my phone.

"Yeah Phil will be getting home soon now too" Dan says.

"Yeah I think were about finished" I say looking at the trolley.

Let me say, now that I have met my senpai, I'd like to spread the love and get other people to meet their senpai. That is me explaining that I am not a self-centred bitch that just wants to use all of Dan's connections to meet all the other youtubers. Well that's what I say to myself so I can sleep at night. I tell myself that it's for Kyara. I am a nice person.

"Are you filming with anyone soon" I ask quickly hoping it came out in a nice way.

"Yeah actually I'm filming a video with Joe Sugg. Do you know him?" Dan asks.

"Yeah I do and I'm probably over stepping my welcome but could Kyara and I come over tomorrow to see him. It's just Kyara loves his videos and has had a crush on him since she first saw his video's" I say quickly wincing at what Dan's response will be.

"Yeah sure I totally understand the feeling of meeting your idol and I wouldn't want to get in the way in that" Dan says.

"Let's keep it a surprise" I say in an excited giggle.

"Okay, hopefully she doesn't die when she sees her true bae" Dan says.

"She has a lot of bae's" I say.

We go through the cash register. Dan handles it and thank god for that because I had no idea what the hell was going on. 

"Shit that is too much food to carry home, do you just want to take the trolley?" I say to Dan.

"Yeah we can take the trolley home later" Dan says pushing the trolley into the car park.

"Hopefully the trolley police don't catch us" I say. Omg that is the lamest joke Ella. Dan laughs

"They'll never catch us, we are the top trolley stealers we leave no tracks behind" Dan says. And at that I feel at comfort with me not being the only lame person in this conversation.
