Himoko's POV
"Soo... Why are you out here?" Haru asked me curiously and I shrugged, lightly kicking a small pebble to the side, "Over reacted perhaps? I don't really know, I just got so mad over something so little..." I sighed deeply, throwing my head back to look up at the clouds in the sky
"Which was?" He peered around me to look at my face
"Aang and Sokka wouldn't let me help get everything settled for tonight. Even when I did try to do something, Aang would magically appear and do it for me." I explained softly, a small smile appearing on my face
"Stupid, right?" He shook his head in response
"It's not. I am like that sometimes to when no one lets you help them, I get that way with my mom."
"Oh... Anyways, I better get going back before it gets too late. You coming?" I asked him which he nodded. "Yeah, need to help my mom close up shop for the night." We walked back in comfortable silence, the barn coming in sight a few minutes later. I could see both Aang and Sokka standing in the front of the barn, both yelling loudly like lunatics. I rolled my eyes slightly at the two, smiling softly
"Well, my overdramatics must have paid off.." I joked and Haru agreed with an amused laugh. Me and Haru separated, him heading back home while I climbed the steep hill, nearing the two who suddenly stopped shouting my name when I finally came into their sights
"Himoko!" Aang yelled, dashing over to me before wrapping his arms tightly around me. Sokka breathed a sigh in relief, rubbing his face with his hands in exasperation
"Good, she didn't get eaten by a hippo..."
"A Hippo?" I questioned which he awkwardly laughed, waving me off
"Nothing. Come on, let's get inside." We headed back inside, Aang with his arm wrapped around my shoulders while chatting me up, ignoring the facade that transpired between us earlier.
(Later that Evening)
I laid up against Appa with Alea snuggled comfortably in my arms, snoring softly with Aang laying close by me against Appa. The two Water Tribe Siblings were in their sleeping bags near the fire that crackled with it's flames licking the oxygen in the air. My eyes were drooping down, threatening to fall when Katara spoke
"It was so brave of Haru to use his earthbending to help that old man." Katara spoke softly with a small smile, her blue eyes glinting from the light of the fire
"You must have really inspired him." Aang spoke up, his voice still holding excitement in it
"I guess so." Katara shrugged nonchalantly, not buying it, "It was a risky thing to do, but a person's life matters more than secrecy." I whispered, no one in the barn hearing my words
"Everyone should get some sleep. We're leaving at dawn." Sokka stated, turning over in his sleeping bag
"Dawn? Can't we sleep in for once?" Katara asked, sitting up slightly to look over at Sokka
"Absolutely not! This village is crawling with Fire Nation troops. If they discover you're here, Aang, we'll be eating fireballs for breakfast. Good night." Sokka grumbled like a scolding father with a small huff. A sly grin spread across Katara's lips before smugly countering him
"I'd rather eat fireballs than nuts." Katara stated smugly with a sly edge in her voice. Sokka glared over his shoulder at her
"Good night...!" I lightly laughed before snuggling up against Appa, finally letting my eyes fall just as Katara blew out our lamp.
It was the next morning and I will still trying to wake myself up with Alea hanging on my bag, using her claws to tightly cling to the back of my shirt enough so that she wouldn't fall. Momo chittered happily nearby while Appa yawned loudly, not liking the extra weight being added back onto his back. Unlike yesterday, the boys let me help while Katara went out to fetch us some fresh water, content with the night sleep she gained. Unlike me, I wasn't much of an early bird, and to add onto that, I didn't gain much sleep last night, nightmares of the night engraved into my brain like hot steel carving, never leaving. I was handing Aang Katara's sleeping bag when the barn's doors bursted open and in came Katara with a panicked expression
"They took him! They took Haru away!" My heart dropped at the news, my eyes widening and my body freezing in place. Aang walked over, confused but also worried"What?" Aang asked her while Katara grabbed at her head, blaming herself for this happening to the young earth bender
"The old man turned him into the Fire Nation. It's all my fault, I forced him into earthbending-!" Sokka placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from he rambling, "Slow down, Katara, when did this happen?" Sokka asked her calmly, putting his arm around her shoulder and held her hand in concern, concern that looked genuine
"Haru's mother said they came for him at midnight."
"Last night?" I asked her which she nodded. 'Poor Haru... He was only trying to help someone...' I felt my heart accelerate in anger, clutching my fists tightly at my sides in fury
"Then it's too late to track him, he's long gone."
"We don't need to track him. The Fire Nation is going to take me right to Haru."
"And... Why would they want to do that?" I grinded my teeth together loudly, wanting to find the old man who turned Haru in
"Because they're going to arrest me for earthbending."
"While you guys do that, I'm looking for the old man who turned him in." I announced shortly after Katara spoke. Her eyes filled with determination, "What, Himoko? N-No you can't-" Sokka tried to protest against my wish
"I'm going to do this. You guys help her get herself arrested for earth bend- Wait, how the heck are you going to do that?" I asked, backtracking in confusion, my anger disappearing lightly. She nodded to me in silent response, letting me think about it for myself
"Okay... Anyways, I'm going to go and kick the old man's butt-"
"No violent acts, Princess." Sokka warned me and I pouted, sighing loudly, "Fine..."
