"Because I love you."

Alice felt her cheeks grew warmer and warmer. The way his eyes were weak as he look into her soul's windows; she felt his words coming out as if they were flesh. It was in fact, the first time she heard someone say those words to her. It almost felt like nothing wrong was taking place outside the shelter. Draco wiped his tears using a clean napkin from his pockets as Alice watched him.

The words felt foreign for the brunette by the time he heard his confession. No one has ever made her feel this way before. Her stomach felt a knot inside, a knot she couldn't understand and her whole system couldn't function well. There was a silence for the both of them. Draco's steel eyes were no longer fierce and intimidating; they were rather soft and caring.

'My first year self would never believe in a million years; that this would ever be happening.' She thought to herself.

"Y-you're not rejecting me, are you?" he stuttered, earning a laugh from Alice.

"I'm not." she replied. "It's just that, I never expected you to be this... "

He raised a brow in confusion. "This?"

"This sincerity. I mean I know you do love me and all, I know you cared. But I never knew how genuine you were to me. So I— let me repeat my wild thoughts."

Draco snickered and nodded.

"Y-you... love me?" she questions.

Draco halted his actions, then faced her with a weak smile.

"I do, Alice. I love you."

This time she felt funny inside her stomach, they were as if she ate live butterflies. With just three specific words, she felt hungry of what it seems that lacked her all these years.

This love— that no one had given her.

Surely some tried making her feel somehow; special, but unlike this.

"H-how?" she managed to spit out those words. "I-I'm not even worthy of living, Draco. How could you love someone like me?"

Her voice cracked, as her frown cracked into a smile and a bitter chuckle. Tears followed as Draco was quick to wrap his arms on her and smiled.

His eyebrows met with a frown. "And why not?"

There was a pause and for a second there, she felt the difficulty to breathe properly.

"I'm filled with flaws, Draco. I-I don't even act the way I should be. I'm weak, I'm very sensitive. I'm an unwanted child and I don't think I can love myself."

With what she relaid to him made the blonde male smile. Tucking the brown strands of her hair, he pushed them on the back of her ears.

"Then I'll do it for you, Alice..."

She met his eyes and leaned closer to her, meeting their breathes just an inch away.
