"Ethan." I knock on his door.
"Come in!" He calls from the other side.
I open his door, kind of just staring at him for a second.
"I said you could come in." Eth chuckles. "That doesn't mean 'hey, you can open my door, but you're only allowed to awkwardly stand in the doorway.'"
"Who're you taking to, E?" Layla says through his phone.
I look down.
"Layla, lemme call you later. Okay?"
"Oh, alright. Bye babe."
"Bye LaLa Grape." He chuckles.
She giggles, and then the call ends. Ethan sits up on his bed, looking at me. "So you're just gonna stand there then?"
I take a deep breath, entering his room and closing the door. "Ethan, I need to say something to you."
"Sure."
"I'm so mad at you, Ethan."
"Wha-"
"Stop. Let me finish." I cut him off.
He nods.
Again, I take a deep breath. "I am beyond mad, actually. I'm fucking furious. You got my friends expelled. But that's not why I'm mad. I'm mad because you lied to me every night. I was so blind, so gullible. I believed you when you said you fell or some stupid shit like that. I never once ever believed that my friends could have hurt you. You don't deserve that, Ethan. So I'm mad that you didn't tell me the truth. But I'm beyond pissed that my friends beat you. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't see. I'm sorry I didn't see it soon, bro. I'm so sorry. And I'm so fucking angry that I didn't see it. Why the fuck couldn't I see threw your lies? I'm fucking furious about it. I'm your twin, I should have been the first to see it. So I'm so, so fucking sorry. Honestly." I let out a deep breath and release my fists. A tear slides down my cheek. "I am so sorry, Ethan."
Ethan doesn't reply.
"I understand if you don't want to forgive me. I don't exactly deserve your forgiveness."
He's still silent. More tears fall.
"I'll never forgive myself."
All of a sudden, I'm engulfed in a tight hug. "I love you, dude. I'll always forgive you. None of this was your fault. Alright?"
I hug him tightly, crying. "I'm so sorry, Ethan. I'm so so sorry."
"Don't be. It's okay."
"I love you."
"I love you too, brother."
