MAYA'S P.O.V.

Weeks passed and Harry and I barely talked to each other. We would nod to each other if we happened to walk out of our apartments at the same time. Nothing more, nothing less. A nod of my head was all he would get. I missed him terribly. I tried to hang out with friends to get my mind off of him, but it never helped.

One afternoon, I couldn’t stand it anymore. I took out my phone and texted him. He was in work probably, but I needed to hear him or at least see him. It was time for him to explain.

                        Me: Come over? M

A couple minutes later I got a reply, Harry <3: On my way .x

I was getting nervous. He was really coming over. In probably ten minutes. I tried to make myself look presentable but debated whether or not to actually bother.

After around fifteen minutes of staring at the clothes in my closet, I heard a knock on my door. My heart skipped a beat and the butterflies came back. I looked down at myself and frowned. I was wearing an old pair of skinny jeans, a t-shirt from my store that only cost me around ten dollars and tie dye socks. I looked like crap. I did my best to fix my hair that just fell loosely on my back and shoulders.

I slowly walked over to my front door and opened it. Harry stood there looking at me. His face seemed to light up when I answered the door.

“Hey…” he said, trying to smile at me.

I nodded. “Hi.” I let him in. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and turned around to face me. I stood in front of my closed door and looked up at him. I sealed my lips closed and swallowed. My jaw clenched nervously and studied Harry’s face. We were quiet for a while, just staring at each other. He didn’t necessarily look different, but it looked like he went through hell these past few weeks. I wouldn’t be surprised, because I did too.

“Are you going to let me explain?” he asked hopefully, finally breaking the silence.

I nodded again, starting to lead him into my tiny living room.

“Thank you.” I heard Harry clear his throat as he followed me.

We sat down on the couch and he looked at me, his eyes searching mine. Why did he have to be so handsome? And have the most amazing green eyes… Maya! Stop! You’re mad at him…

“Go ahead,” I started, “I’ve gotten over it. I just want to know why.”

“I was at the red carpet event and I saw her, Lily, at the end of the red carpet. She seemed to like me. We went to the after party together and we both had a little too much to drink. I’m going to cut right to the chase here and tell you that I asked if she had a place to stay that night. She said no, so I took her back with me. That was a bad idea on my part. Then you know what happens next.”

I nodded. That sounded like a pretty crappy excuse but he’d probably been rehearsing it for weeks. Harry looked nervous. He messed his hair and pushed it to the side before he looked back at me.
