I caught the perfect wave! I was practically floating in air. I could hear my friends and parents cheering my name.

"Woo! Go Talise!"

"Keep balance Talise!"

"Don't fall Talise"

But all those side comments were blocked. I just smiled and enjoyed the thrill while it was still here. Whoosh! A gust of wind knocks me off my surfboard. I collapse into the cool water. I come up for air but just as I breathe in, another wave swallows me, dragging me back down into the water. Then another, and another. I couldn't hold my breathe for any longer. I struggle to reach the air, but it's too late. My whole world turns black and I gently fall asleep.

"Hey Talise! Wait up!" Christine calls.

I roll my eyes. "Well you took too long to wax your board!" I shout laughing. I run to the shore and plunge my board into the water. The crystal cool sea splashes everywhere, as I pedal out further into the ocean. I could hear Christine right behind me. I see the ocean start to form a wave.

"I call it!" I shout quickly. I dive under the water and rise back up, catching it perfectly. I see Christine giving me thumbs up, smiling at me.

I quickly fall back into the water and rush back up. As I pull my hair back, I climb on to my surfboard a sit, exactly like Christine was sitting.

"That was amazing! I wish I could surf as good as you!" Christine gushes out to me.

I blush. Christine is an amazing surfer. I don't get why she's jealous of me.

"Your a fantastic surfer too! Stop wishing stuff like that!" I dip my hand in the water.

She splashes me and I spray water back at her. We giggle and throw water at each other. She sighed and looked out at the ocean. The sun was setting, she knew this was my favorite time of day. Where the sun would touch the water and reflect light. Where you could smell the barbecue and hear the kids playing on the beach. It was just something about our beach that brings the whole town together.

"Can you believe we get to come out here everyday and just surf?" she asks.

I shake my head. "No, I can't. It feels like my new life here is finally settling in just right" I say as I keep my eyes on the sun.

I moved here 2 months ago and was thrilled when I found out we lived on a beach. I could start a new life and get away from all that drama. Of course I would miss my best friend, Kaitlyn, but I think me leaving was just best for all of us.

Christine and I surf a little more until it turns dusk. When it's dusk, that means its time to go in. My mom has this rule that you can't night surf. I could hear her voice in my head now. "Come inside! No surfing after night, remember?"

We grab our things and rush into my house, laughing about a joke.

I love my new house. It was a huge 4 story house, with a pool and too many rooms. It was a modern home with arched doorways, vibrant green grass and palm trees in the front.

"Make sure you don't get sand on the new carpet!" my mom yells as we walk in.

"Okay!"Me and Christine say together at the same time. We have a tendency to do that alot. Our parents think its freaky but I think that normal for best friends.

Christine and I have been best friends ever since I moved here. She was the one that introduced me when I just got here. She was the one that let me spend the night at her house when my parents were out. She was really popular and knew almost everyone. Alot of guys like her and I can see why. She was gorgeous. That long lush dirty blonde hair and her super tan skin. She had the perfect body. I always told her she was super pretty but she would never listen and just say "Stop gushing over me and take a look at yourself! Your gorgeous!"

I was average. Just a girl with light brown hair and tan skin, not as tan as Christine's but pretty tan. I was a little shorter than her and skinny too. But Christine had a glowy figure, unlike me. I was pretty, not gorgeous. I was average.

I grab two water bottles and head up to my room. I take a long gulp of my water and plop on my bed. My room was huge. A walk in closet and a bathroom. My room was a pink, white, and black theme. Even though there were boxes around left unopened from the move. It screamed me. I looked at a letter taped to my mirror. I rip it off.

"What is it?" Christine asks.

It was a flyer asking people to sign up for a surfboard competition to compete in regional. I was about to crumple it up but Christine snatches it out of my hand before I get the chance. She scans the paper and her face brightens up.

"Lets do it!" she screams.

I shake my head. I can't compete! I have to study and help my parents adjust to my new house.

"Please?" she whimpered. She juts out her bottom lip.

I stare at her, its no use. I'll end up caving in anyway. So I save the arguing and nod my head.

She squels and grabs a pen as I roll my eyes.
