Chapter Twenty Five. FOREVER AND ALWAYS

"I forgive you." I say quietly. Nishinoya comes closer to me and I turn to give him an hug but I slip. And fall...

I see it all in slow motion. His face as I fell from his view, the darkness as I close my eyes. I saw it all like it was the end. But it wasn't. Everything stops. The falling stops in mid air, the sea stops dragging me towards it like it's going to eat me. And most definitely kill me.

I bang against the side of the cliff, its sharp edges cutting into my skin. I wince and look up slowly. His face. His pained yet relieved expression.

"You caught me." I whisper, tears in my eyes as I struggle to find a place to fit my feet in the cliff.

"Of course I did. I'm a Volleyball player and my position is the libero, plus, I will always be there for you. Forever and always." He smiles, "Now try and put your hand in a dip in the cliff and I'll try an pull you up." I nod and do what he says. He pulls me higher and I grip the edge of the cliff for dear life. Nishinoya grabs both my wrists and pulls me up whilst I use my feet to climb up. I reach the top and immediately take a step away from the cliff so I don't fall again.

"Nishinoya." I say to myself, suddenly remembering that he was actually here.

"Uh... Yeah?" He replies.

"Why did you leave? Without saying goodbye? Why did you even come back? You need to explain. Everything." I look at him in the eye.

"I think we can talk later, we need to get back. Now." He says, as serious as I am.

"No. I want you to explain. Now." I say, not moving.

"Aria!" He shouts, annoyed. "It's dark! It's cold! It's dangerous! We NEED to get back before my phone looses battery and we get lost. Please. Just listen to me." His voice softens. "I'm sorry. For everything. Okay." He cups my face and pulls me into a hug, whispering the words "I'm sorry" over and over. He takes my hand and we walk out of the forest.

Once we're out of the woods, I look and Nishinoya again, guilty for what I just did. "Sorry. Everything's just been so overwhelming. Oh. And thank you... For saving me."

"My pleasure." He chuckles and shifts his arm to around my waist and pulls me into a hug. "I told you already. I will be there for you. Forever and always. Because I love you."

"Sure you will. Cuz u were definitely there a few days ago." I chuckled and he whispers sorry into my ear again. I slip my hand into his we walk back to my house.

"How did you know how to get back from the forest?" I ask as we enter my street.

"Well, actually, I used to go to that forest a lot when I was a kid. My parents and I built dens and huts there. My dad also taught me how to play volleyball there. Well, he taught me how to dig. But we stopped because the volleyball got stuck up a tree. Yeah.... That was random." He smiles sheepishly.

"And cute." I say causing him to blush. We enter my house and I drag him to my living room, eager to question him.

"Okay. Now you can ask questions." We both flop onto the sofa.

"Why did you come back? Where did you go? Why did you go? Where do you stay? Who did you-"

"One at a time. Please."

"Where did you go?"

"I-uh... Well, it was because of you."

"Wait, what?"

"You didn't do anything wrong! It was Mia and me."

"Still doesn't make sense."

"I didn't want you to physically get hurt anymore. It was all my fault so I thought if I left, she'd come after me and leave you alone."

"Hang on.. And you didn't think about what would happen to me?"'

"No I did! I thought you'd be fine..."

"But obviously not." I say leaning my head back onto the sofa.

"But I'm back now." He whispers, standing up and walking to the other side of the couch so I'm back facing him again. "I'm sorry"

"You've said that too many times now. Okay. Next question. Where did you go?"

"I stayed at a hotel."

"Okay... Why did you come back?"

"Well... I-uh... I didn't. I was actually going to that forest because I wanted to think and.. You know... Just sit there."

"Oh.." I try to hide my disappointment by keeping a straight face but it just makes me look like a donkey so I frown.

"I'm sorry."

"But you're coming to school tomorrow. With me."

"What! No! I can't! Mia!"

"She's leaving. Her parents found out about what she did to me and they're taking her to a different school."

"Oh... Then I can finally have you. To myself. Without worrying."
He's leans in to kiss me and I do the same.
