january 17th.
The bell rang and Cameron immediately walked down the stairs to open the door.
"Don't worry Julia, I got it." He said when he saw Julia walking out of the kitchen.
He quickly stopped in front of a mirror to check if his hair looked good and rolled up the sleeves of his shirt until his elbows.
"Hey!" He said opening the door and then took a step to the back to let her walk in.
"Hi." Rose replied, holding a notebook against her chest. "Hi Julia!" She said as they walked by the kitchen.
They kept walking upstairs, in direction of his room.
Rose was already used to this routine.
It was always the same that it could start getting boring. But it didn't because they enjoyed each other's company."Today is the last day that we have to study together before the first test so you better pay attention." Rose said looking up while she placed everything over his desk.
While she was searching for the right page to start studying, he placed an envelop over her book.
"What's this for ?" She asked confused, picking up the envelop.
"Open it." He said and she did it. When she opened it, it had $300 inside.
"I...I can't accept it." She said trying to give it back to him.
"Yes you can, I told you that I would pay you for your help."
"I know but it's too much, are you crazy? We're friends, I can't Cameron."
"Wow, you just put me in the friendzone. I'm definitely not accepting that." He said placing his hand over his chest to act like that offended him and she chuckled.
"Cameron, I'm serious."
"Roselyn, me too. You need it more than I do!"
"Fine, but don't do it again!" She said and he nodded, even though her words didn't mean anything to him. "Thanks."
Rose grabbed her backpack to put the envelop inside and a small notebook fell.
She didn't notice it but Cameron did, so he knelt down to pick it up and started reading it.Rose looked up for a few seconds and her eyes went hide when she realized that was the notebook.
"Give me that!" She said, immediately trying to steal it from his hands but he raised his arm.
"What is this ?" He asked, as Rose kept trying to reach to the notebook.
"None of your business."
"Then I won't give it back to you."
"Oh yes you will!"
Rose pinched his nipple and he immediately lowered his arm. She stole the notebook from his hands and placed it inside her backpack and then closed it.
"Ouch!" He said clucking, placing his hand over his nipple. "Why is that notebook so import ?"
"It's where I write..." She explained sitting down and he raised his eyebrows.
"You never fail to surprise me..." He said sitting next to her. "I didn't know that you write..."
"It's not big deal...I'm just practicing for college...if I ever go to one."
"I'm sure you will. I read the first page and it sounded great, incredible great..."
"You're just saying that because you're my friend."
"Damn Rose, you're really putting me in the friendzone."
"Shut up!" She chuckled, punching his shoulder lightly. "I write about a lot of things, usually about things that happen to me, things that I like...things...that I...love..."
When she finished the last sentence, she was lost. They were lost. Lost staring into each other's eyes.
He was so focused listening to her, amazed by her beauty. Amazed by how her eyes shined while she talked about her passion.
They didn't have to say a single word because they understood each other thanks to their unspoken connection. They were on the same page.
"Did you...ever write about me ?" He asked slowly and scared at the same time.
"I can't tell you." She said breaking the eye contact, getting ready to study again. "And if you don't start studying again, you'll fail."
"Just answer my question. Did you or not ?"
"Yes. Now, study!" She replied and he looked down, holding his smile.
"Can I read it ?"
"Cameron, study!"
"I'm curious now." He said chuckling and she shook her head.
"No, you can't read it and yes, you can study."
"You're boring..." He said closing her books, showing that he didn't want to study at all.
"Okay, I give up." Rose said getting up, putting everything inside her backpack.
"Hey..." He said grabbing her hand and she stopped. "I don't want to study but I want you to stay here."
He pushed her closer to him and she ended up landing on his lap, with her legs around his waist.
Her hair fell to the front of her face and he laughed when she blew, trying to remove the few hairs.
With his fingertips, he helped her and then rested his hands on her hips.
"What ?" Rose asked when she noticed that he wouldn't stop staring like an idiot.
"Nothing..." He simply shrugged, smiling. "You just really have a pretty face."
"Are you sick?" Rose asked, placing her hand over his forehead.
He laughed once again and took off her hand, placing a kiss over it before releasing it.
His smile faded and his face looked serious this time. He took a deep breath and the air got thicker.
"Roselyn...I need to tell you something serious. And first of all, I'm sorry."
