january 17th.
His smile faded and his face looked serious this time. He took a deep breath and the air got thicker.
"Roselyn...I need to tell you something serious. And first of all, I'm sorry."
Rose observed his face, scared of what was coming.
"Cameron, you're worrying me..."
"You know that I really like you...more than a friend..."
"We already had this conversation..."
"No..." He replied, quickly shaking his head. "It's more than that. We talked about being honest with each other and I need to tell you this to feel like I'm being totally honest with you."
"You're definitely scaring me..."
"So, I don't really know how to explain you this...as you know, my dad has company."
"Yes, I do..." Rose said, nodding slowly. Her heart started racing faster when she heard him mentioning the company.
"And lately, he has been looking for a place to start constructing a big empire, as he says, and I think that they want...your neighborhood."
When he finished, he took a deep breath and looked up, waiting for her reaction.
"I know." She simply said, without any reaction.
"You do?" He asked really confused, pulling his eyebrows together.
"We got a letter and I noticed that the name of company matched with the name that was on the back your shirt, during the baseball game."
"Oh..." He said looking down. "Listen, Rose, I'm nothing like my dad, I swear."
"I know Cameron, don't worry. You're an amazing guy." Rose replied with a small smile and Cameron immediately felt even more guilty.
"Fuck..." He murmured and then grabbed her hands. "No, I'm not and that's why I'm sorry. He asked...my dad asked me to..."
"Cameron!" They heard someone calling and then opened the door.
Rose quickly got up from his lap and Cameron got up from the chair, adjusting his shirt.
"I'm so sorry...I forgot you weren't alone." Julia said closing her eyes.
"It's okay Julia." Cameron said chuckling while Rose blushed, picking up her backpack.
"Your dad said that he wants to talk with you."
"I was talking with..." Cameron started saying but Rose immediately interrupted him.
"Don't worry, I should go..." Rose said throwing her backpack to the back.
"Give me a minute." Cameron said to Julia and she nodded, closing her door.
"We need to finish this conversation later." He said cupping her face with both hands.
"We can talk about this tomorrow at school or something." She shrugged.
He got closer to her face and kissed her gently before leaving the room.
