Chapter 19: Unconditionally
Mia
The guests all applauded loudly. I looked along the faces to find the people I know. Caleigh's older brother Richard, who was hand in hand with his partner Sam, grinned up at me. My own older brother was stood next to Richard and beamed up at me, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye. Caleigh's Dad came up on the stage and placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Well ladies and gentlemen, I think we can all agree that was a wonderful performance, may I ask if we can make our way outside, ready for the fireworks and another performance from The Dark Boys and Amelia" He instructed.
Outside the night sky was pitch black, only illuminated by the moon and the stars that sparkled like diamonds. Scattered across the grass were the fallen leaves of the most gorgeous colours, gold, bronze, dark purple, orange, red, auburn. It was beautiful. The pavilion was decorated with tiny candles and strings of lights. The tree trunks had fairy lights wrapped around them as well. It was like a scene from a movie, but at the same time it was magical. The boys set up ready to begin. Everyone crowded in their jackets, huddled close together like penguins to keep warm. I could see Jace still inside with his microphone from where I stood. Everyone's eyes where on me. I kept my eyes on Jace who was leaning against the wall. His warming smile made me feel at ease. I felt like I could do anything.
Mia: Oh no, did I get too close? Oh, did I almost see what's really on the inside?
I sung as Jace walked through the crowd towards me. Our eyes never left each others.
Jace: All your insecurities
All the dirty laundry
Never made me blink one time
He sung back. His words were like calming waves, his beautiful, angel like voice sent shivers down my spine. I held my hand out to him and he took it squeezing it tightly.
Both: Unconditional, unconditionally
I will love you unconditionally
There is no fear now
Let go and just be free
I will love you unconditionally
We sang to the crowd loosing ourselves in the music. We stood on opposite sides of the pavilion as he turned to face me as the next verse came.
Jace: So come just as you are to me
Don't need apologies
Know that you are worthy.
Both: I'll take your bad days with your good
Walk through the storm I would
Mia: I do it all because I love you
Jace: I love you
Both: Unconditional, unconditionally I will love you unconditionally
There is no fear now
Let go and just be free
I will love you unconditionally
Jace and I walked towards each other, Jace placed a warm hand on my bare shoulder and ran his hand down my arm until he reached my hand. He laced our hands together and looked me dead in the eyes.
Both: So open up your heart and just let it begin
Open up your heart and just let it begin
Open up your heart and just let it begin
Open up your heart
Mia: Acceptance is the key to be
Jace: To be truly free
Mia: Will you do the same for me?
As I sung my last line I moved my hand to Jace's cheek and he leaned his face into my palm.
Both: Unconditional, unconditionally I will love you unconditionally
There is no fear now
And let go and just be free
I will love you unconditionally
Mia: So open up your heart and just let it begin
Open up your heart and just let it begin
Mia: Open up your heart (Jace:I will love you unconditionally) and just let it begin. Open up your heart
Both: Yeah yeah
I will love you unconditionally
I will love you
The guests erupted into loud cheering and Luke started jeering in the back. I felt a strange bubbling in my hands. Suddenly the firework show that had been set up, burst into life. The firework show had begun without anyone lighting the fuse. What can I say, I just cant control my powers when Jace is this close and looking at me like that. Everyone turned to face the fireworks as Jace led me down a winding pathway through the gardens. The path was lit with fairy lights that eventually stopped, leaving the only light source to be the moon and the stars. Jace led me underneath the swaying curtains of the leaves of a willow. Despite the approaching winter, its leaves had not yet fallen. The gentle trickle of water from the near by stream sounded magical. We were completely cut off from the rest of the party. 'Can I Have This Dance' from High School Musical 3 played cheesily in the background as the fireworks went off. The moonlight filtered through gaps in the leaves illuminating us slightly. It reminded me of those stolen nights in Olympus. As I looked into Jace's eyes, everything was becoming clear, he was remembering.
"Well, I believe to be fitting to this song. Princess Mia of Olympus, can I have this dance?" Jace said offering me his hand and bowing.
I placed my hand in his and curtsied. "Why of course you can!"
We waltzed around under the tree our bodies touching, becoming one. We were together and nothing could take us away from each other now.
Jace rested he forehead against mine as he interlocked our fingers together. "I'd forgotten how amazing it feels to dance with you!"
I smiled "It's been so many millennia!" I savoured how close he was to me, I kept waiting for Luke to turn up and interrupt us.
Jace brought our hands to his lips and pecked them.
"I always knew you'd find me!" I exclaimed.
Jace gazed deeply into my eyes. "I will always find you"
His arms tightened around my waist as he looked down at my lips.
"Jace" I whispered against his lips "Just kiss me"
And that was exactly what he did. Jace pressed his lips against mine. They tasted of honey, just like they did back on Olympus. Euphoria rushed through me. I tangled my fingers in his perfect hair as he pulled me tighter to him. Our lips moved in synchronization as we savoured every last minute. We pulled apart out of breath. It was like we were one. One of his hands pressed against the small of my back moulding me against him as his other hand rested against the back of my neck. I was pure bliss and I did not want it to end.
"I will always love you. Mia, I love you!" Jace exclaimed making my heart race through the roof.
"I love you forever!" I announced watching his beautiful eyes light up and the biggest grin appear on his face.
