Chapter 7: Where Did You Go?

Mia

"Guys look at this old comic book store!" Luke yelled pointing at an old building that looked so antique.

"Wow!!! Lets go inside, maybe there's an old script!!" Caleigh said jumping up and down like a six year old. Luke's face lit up at Caleigh's excitement, however Jace and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes.

"Seriously you two, do you have to go inside every comic book store we find!" I asked.

Luke and Caleigh locked eyes before turning to me and saying in unison "Yes" before they fell about laughing at their creepy jinx moment.

Jace laid his hand on the small of my back, sending a warm shiver down my spine, and lent down to whisper, "How about you and I go down to the music store and have a look?"

This time I felt my eyes light up, if there was one thing Jace and I shared in common, it's our love for music and instruments. He told us on the way down that he and his friends from where the boys went started up a band, they meet up all the time to practise. Jace is the lead guitarist and singer. Luke and Caleigh have a love for old comic stores, because it's where old scripts are also kept. Both of them adore acting.

We arranged to meet up in an hour in the middle of the street. Jace slung and arm across my shoulder and pulled me close to him. I wrapped my arm around his waist. It felt natural and I couldn't help but look up at him.

He looked so flawless, his eyes were covered with sunglasses that showed off his bad boy image and he had a tight white shirt on that showed off his toned, muscular body. As he smiled down at me he made my heart race fast, as I practically melted under his gaze.

"What about this one?" Jace said leaning down next to me. I was stood flicking through old vinyl records from the 60's. The one he held in front of me was The Beatles.

"Honey, you got me that for my thirteenth birthday!" I said.

Jace winked at me "Awwww Princess Mia you remembered!!!"

"Of course I remember, it was a present from my best friend!" I stated.

Jace placed his hands over his heart "Oh Princess Mia, do stop you're giving me heart palpitations!"

I rolled my eyes and walked up to the old rickety stair case to the next floor.

"Jace, are you coming up?" I yelled.

He grinned up at me "Why of course Princess Mia" he called following me up.

I looked at the beautiful sight in front of me. Rows and rows of gorgeous, different coloured, makes and types of guitars. I gasped and looked around in awe. It sounds cliche but I seriously love guitars. I was so caught up in my fantasy universe of guitars that I didn't notice Jace appear beside me.

"It's beautiful isn't it!" Jace sighed.

I nodded and walked around the room picking up different guitars. Jace walked over to me and grabbed my hand, making me jump. However I soon relaxed at his touch. Jace lead me over to a cosy window seat that over looked the square we had stood in earlier, he sat down and pulled me down with him. The window sill was small therefore we sat with our legs tangled together.

We sat in a comfortable silence as I looked out over the tops of the shops to where the sea was rolling onto the practically empty beach. I felt Jace studying my face and couldn't help but keep sneaking glances at him. As our eyes met he grinned, I turned away again and began thinking of everything. Of how many millenia ago, Jace and I crept around because we loved each other and wanted to be together, and now here we are, and nothing is the same. I missed him, even though he was right next to me, it was almost like he wasn't. I wanted to feel his touch, his lips, his breath. I wanted to feel his breath as he whispered things in my ear. But I couldn't have that. he had to figure everything out for himself. It was as if he had amnesia and I was screaming at him to remember who he was, but no matter what, he just couldn't.

"Something's bugging you Mia! I can tell, come on, spill the baked beans." Jace pointed out using his weird lines that we had between each other.

I felt his gaze boring down on me as I continued to look down at the sea.

"Where did you go?" I asked.

Jace sighed and looked at me solemnly, "Disciplinary Institution for Young Men. Dad and mum started talking about it, what with all the trouble we were causing and after what happened Luke and I lost it. We needed to put a stop to what we were doing. To what happened."

I looked at Jace puzzled "What do you mean trouble??"

Jace leaned towards me and moved a piece of hair from my face, his touch sent tingles all over my body.

"It was so strange, we started hearing things, people talking to us, remembering wars blood. When we dreamed it was as if we were in an alternate universe. Then we just kept seeing you and Caleigh, and you looked like you do now, except you were in our arms and you were dead. We met up with some older boys, and we started drinking and they got us on pot, we smashed windows in and everything. All within the space of a month. It was as if we were living in a parallel universe. All of that and we were only thirteen. Luke and I thought we were going insane."

I hadn't noticed that Jace and I were holding hands again, not until he squeezed mine,

I was shocked at his words, that so much had happened, I began to move my lips to speak but Jace shook his head.

"On the day we left we came into the room you were both in, and we cried, we sat there and spoke to you for hours, we kept saying we were sorry, that we were going to go away and make ourselves better for you, that if we could be better, then maybe you would get better to. Both of us worked so hard at that school, we figured that the harder we worked, the more we could make it up to you. so that when we returned you'd forgive us." Jace sighed, finally finishing. As I read his feelings, I knew he felt as if a giant weight had just lifted off his shoulders.

I felt tears brimming up in my eyes as I squeezed his hand. "Jace, I am so so sorry. The fact that you went through that, it must of been horrible. I'm so proud of you for getting through it, but you don't ever have to do that again OK. I'm here for you and I promise you I am not going anywhere."

Jace smiled happily, "I'll never let you regret that decision Princess, I can promise you that, I am so lucky to have you in my life. I'll make it up to you"

I leaned across and hugged Jace, "You don't have anything to make up, as long as you are here."
