Chapter 12: The Big Bang

My head was in between my knees as I processed all the information that Nanna Jones had just told Luke and I about Mia. Both of us felt terrible for running from her, she needed us and we left her.

I closed my eyes as a tear ran slowly down my cheek. What if we didn't find her? What if I never saw her again?

My mind drifted and a violent image came into my head. I felt a shiver up my spine. It was Mia and Jace in his car, driving, when suddenly they screamed. The car spun through the air before crashing down back onto the ground.

My head shot up and I noticed a shadow that was wrapped around my arm. They shot around everywhere and practically covered the night sky where the whole town was still out searching for Mia.

I got up and ran downstairs. I wasn't looking where I was going and crashed into someone's chest.

"Woah!! Caleigh slow down!" Luke sighed.

I just wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tight.

"Kitty what's wrong?" He asked pulling back and placing his warm hands on my cheeks.

"Something is terribly wrong. Jace and Mia, I think they are hurt." I explained.

Panic consumed Luke's face as someone called his name.

"Yeah?" Luke replied turning around.

It was Nanna Jones.

"Both of you get in the car, I'm taking you to the hospital." She commanded. Her normally calm young nature had vanished as I saw her as an old woman, she was tired, distressed and fearful.

"The hospital!" I exclaimed "Why?"

"Mia and Jace have been in a car accident. It's serious injuries"

She didn't need to say anything else as we all ran outside to Tom's car.

"Mia won't be hurt will she Nanna?" Tom asked.

Nanna shook her head "No, she can't be harmed by anything except an Ancient Greek sword. However she will be shaken up."

"What about Jace?" Asked Luke worriedly.

"I'm sorry Luke, love, I don't know, it could be anything." Nanna said.

It hit a cord in my heart, Mia called everyone love. I worried about Jace and what could happen to him.

We arrived at the hospital, it's a small town so the nurse knew who we were.

"Room 13" she said.

We ran down the corridor and turned into the open room.

Mia was sat on the floor in a corner and when she saw us her eyes filled with tears. She sobbed, Tom and Luke ran to her and sat at her sides and I sat in front. Mia looked thinner as if she had not eaten for days, her eyes were surrounded by dark circles and her hair was a wild mess. That was when I noticed the blood that covered her.

Nanna Jones walked back into the room. "I have news!"

We all looked up to her and Mia and I grabbed Luke's hand. I grabbed Mia's as well.

"Jace is in surgery, however he had bad injuries and has slipped into a coma!"

Mia gasped and Luke hugged her and me close. "He's going to be OK Luke!"

He kissed my forehead, and despite everything if made my heart flutter.

"Mia, I think you should go home, get showered and get some clean clothes." Luke pointed out a few hours later, as he looked at Mia's clothes that were stained with mud, dirt and Jace's blood.
