Chapter 24: Greece

Caleigh

"It's freaking hot." Whined Jace as he pushed his dark hair back.

Mia ignored her boyfriend and linked her arm through mine.

"Can you feel it. The energy is so strong." Mia asked.

I nodded, "So close to home."

Xander turned around from where he and Elliott walked in front of us, "We have a safe house out, it's like a smaller version of the institute for anyone that passes through."

Mia nodded in agreement. "OK, that sounds like a good place to find out where the temples are located."

Ashley spoke up "Will we all fit in the safe house?"

"No Ashley, we won't, does that bother you?" Said Elliott cockily.

I turned to Mia and Jace knowing that they were closest to the boys "Is he always like this?"

I thought I'd spoken quietly, but I was surprised when Mia, Jace, Xander, Ashley and Elliott himself replied with "Yes"

We wandered through the streets of the town. Tourists swarmed about taking pictures. The divine aroma of Greek food wafted through the air making my stomach rumble. It had changed a lot since I last remembered being here, but I suppose it would. But there were certain parts that looked like they had remained. As we walked down a certain part of road, a strange tingling sensation appeared in my feet. I looked around me and was drawn towards an area of overgrown shrubs and trees. There was a small pathway that if you looked to quickly you would miss. Something inside me pulled me in the direction of the pathway.

"The safe house should be somewhere around here!" Called Xander who was a few paces in front looking around.

"What about down this pathway?" I said pointing.

Xander shook his head. "I doubt it, I am a great Navigator and warrior, I'd know if there was a safe house down there."

Jace shook his head, obviously used to Xanders' ego, well I don't think it was as big as Elliott's but who's to judge.

"Caleigh, do you think it's down here?" He asked.

I nodded, "I can feel it."

Mia smiled at me, and I knew she could feel the energy as well.

"Well, lets have a look then" he said pulling out a large dagger from his back."

I stepped back, fear shooting through me. Suddenly I hit something hard. I stopped fear running through my bones. Then hard wall behind me began to shake with laughter, and I realized I'd walked into Luke.

"Love, he's getting it out in case there's any demons inside there." Luke whispered in my ear.

I sighed in relief, I don't know what brought that over me, I knew that Jace wouldn't hurt me.

The others walked off down the pathway, as we walked further down, the shade made a cooling barrier from the hot rays of the sun. I could hear insects chirping in the overgrowth.

Finally we ducked under a low branch and came upon a clearing.

In the centre of the clearing, was a stone building, it was about two rooms big from what I could tell from the outside. It was forgotten about, left. It looked familiar, but it couldn't of been, I had never been to Greece in this life, maybe I passed it when I used to visit the Mortal world. Upon closer inspection it had not been completely left, a few repairs had been made, there was a lock on the door, and around the clearing, I realized was a force field of some sort. Mia had noticed it too. "A force field to keep out demons"
