Recap:

The second he saw me, Jason’s eyes trailed down from my wet hair all the way down to my bare feet. I felt my whole body turn hot at his gaze. He snapped his eyes up to mine when he heard me clear my throat uncomfortably. I could see that something was on his mind.

Before I could speak, he opened his mouth, his voice hoarse.

“Viv, we need to talk.”

Worry etched its way on my face. I hate those four words with a burning passion.

“What is it?” I asked with both anticipation and fear. He seemed startled at his own words, like he hadn’t meant to say anything. He opened and closed his mouth once, twice, but still didn’t say anything.

“Jason?” I pushed, walking closer to him. Now I was really worried.

“What? Oh right, umm… yeah I was thinking maybe it’s a little late for drawing now? The park will be dark anyway,” he said with a small smile. He looked a little…pink?

“Umm okay yeah, sure,” I said uncertainly. What was going on?

“Alright, yes, awesome, we’ll meet up tomorrow or something.” He said, getting up and walking towards the door.

“You’re leaving?” I asked before I could stop myself. How stupid of me to think that he’d want to hang out for reasons other than his comic.

“Yeah I mean, we won’t be working on anything right?” He said, sounding a little weird.

“Yeah, you’re right,” I said, shaking my head quickly and walking to the door where he was standing.

“Well, I’ll see you tomorrow then,” he said with a small wave. I nodded, unable to form words. A second after I closed the door, I heard the doorbell ring. My heart started beating a little faster as I opened the door and saw Jason’s face once again.

“Just realized I don’t have your cell number,” he said, taking his phone out of his pocket.

Well, I was hoping for some explanation to his weird behavior but this will do too.

“Oh right,” I said taking his phone from his hands and punching in my number. I saved it as Viviana Comic then handed it back to him. He looked at it then laughed and looked up at me.

“I only know one Viviana, and I think she likes to be called Viv,” he said with a half-smile, his eyes twinkling.

“Just in case you forget who that Viviana is,” I said, laughing nervously. Why was he making me blush so much?

“Don’t worry, that won’t happen,” he said, his voice turning soft and low, a small smile on his face. I smiled back, my face turning even redder than before.

“Alright, anyway,” I said, clearing my throat and looking away from his mesmerizing eyes. This sudden tensed atmosphere was clouding my head up big time.

“Right, I’ll see ya later Viv,” he said as he backed away from the door.

“See you around,” I replied with a smile, closing the door. I leaned against the wooden plane and slid down to the floor.

What in the world just happened?

I got up and walked to the long mirror in Kate’s room; was something wrong with the way I looked? Staring at my reflection, I saw nothing wrong with my appearance, other than the fact that a) I was barefoot and b) I looked a little flushed. But that couldn’t be the reason he freaked out, right?
