After a couple of hours of soaking up the sunrays at the beach, accompanied by awkward tension from Scott, it was almost 5 pm. I picked my towel and white board up and said bye to the guys and Olivia then headed back home. The glare of the summer sun was fading away little by little, making the streets pleasantly lit. I hummed to myself as I strolled across the street, enjoying the serenity of the soft wind ruffling my hair around.
“Viv!” The loud voice startled me, pulling me out of my solitary daze. I turned around to see Jason jogging over to me, a tall tanned guy following close behind him.
“Hey,” I waved, smiling.
“This is my friend Liam,” he said, gesturing at the guy standing next to him. “Liam, this is Viviana,”
Liam smirked, “Comic girl,” he stated, his smirk widening into a full blown smile. His hand reached out and I shook it, smiling back at his freckled face.
“In the flesh,” I replied, causing both of them to laugh lightly.
“Where are you heading?” Jason asked, shoving his hands down the pockets of his swim shorts. This time, he had a plain white V-neck shirt on, covering his mysterious tattoo.
“I was just going home to change,” I said, pointing towards my building, which was not far off from where we were standing.
“We’ll walk you,” Liam said with a smile. His eyes were a deep chocolate color, his jet black hair and thick eyelashes accentuating their depth. I nodded and smiled back, the three of us falling into a relaxed pace towards my house.
“So where are you guys off to?” I asked, moving my board from under one arm to the other. These things were heavier than I thought.
“Just walking Liam to his mom’s furniture boutique,” Jason answered, turning to look at me. “Then I was going to come pick you up.”
“Wait, your mom owns that shop?” I asked Liam.
“Yeah, she’s the pink fairy in town,” he replied, rolling his eyes.
“I love that place! I bought the most amazing fairy lights from there a couple of weeks ago,” I gushed.
“That was you?” Liam’s eyes grew wider. I frowned in confusion.
“What do you mean?” I asked, looking from Liam to Jason then back to Liam. Jason was laughing, shaking his head in disbelief.
“My mom handmade those, she put them on display that same day you bought them,” he explained, “she was so excited when she saw that her work got such a quick response, so she decided to make some new ones,”
“And now Liam’s room is covered in little black and white fairy lights,” Jason finished for him, his laughter growing louder. Liam’s face turned a cute shade of red, making me laugh along with Jason.
“Oh god, I’m sorry,” I said, my words coming out unclear from the laughter.
“My room looks like Ken’s dream house,” he said, his face a mask of mock-sorrow.
“Well, look on the bright side,” I said, my laughter subsiding to a small chuckle, “Ken got the hottest girlfriend,”
Liam’s face twisted in disgust, “Barbie is way too blonde for my taste,”
“You do look like Ken though,” Jason joked, earning him a punch on the arm courtesy of Liam.
“We’re here,” I said, looking at the small building.
“I’ll be back,” Jason said, smiling and winking wickedly, causing a soft pink to creep up my cheeks. I saw Liam smirk and smack Jason on the back of his head.
