Sheriff escorted Wade to the police station, and into the interrogation room. He's been waiting in there for about thirty minutes alone. Jakob and Tasha walk in together and sit across from the substitute teacher.
"Finally." Wade says. "What took you so long?"
"Sorry, for the delay, Mr. Tatum." Jakob apologizes.
"We just have a few questions for you about what happened last night." Tasha adds. "Can you take us through what happened?"
"Well, I guess it was about nine o'clock when I pulled into the D.C. Inn." Wade begins to explain. "I was walking to my room with my keys in my hand. And then I just collapsed. I don't know what I was hit with, but it bruised my face and I started bleeding. All I really remember after I was hit was the sound of fast paced footsteps and realizing my wallet was missing."
"Did you go to the hospital, or try to call for help?" Jakob asks.
"No." Wade replies.
"Why not?" Tasha asks.
"I couldn't think. I didn't even know where I was." Wade replies. "And besides, by the time I woke up, that guy was long gone and the bleeding stopped."
"So, what happened next?" Tasha questions.
"I walked into my room, filled a bag with ice, and layed down." Wade says.
"Can anyone verify those events of last night?" Jakob asks.
Wade furrows his brows in confusion. "Verify? Verify that I was attacked and robbed?" Tasha and Jakob nod. "Why?"
"We just need to verify if what you're saying is true." Tasha replies.
"Why, do you think that I made up my attack?"
"No." Jakob answers.
"Then why am I here?" Jakob asks. "Why am I being interrogated like a scumbag criminal?"
"There was another incident last night." Tasha responds.
"Incident?" Wade asks. "You mean another attack by that guy in the white mask?"
"Yes." Jakob says. "He kidnapped one teen and sent another to the hospital." Jakob nearly choked up at the mention of his son.
"That's awful." Wade comments. "But what does that have to do with me?"
"While looking for the teen that was kidnapped, one of the search party members was attacked by the killer." Tasha says. "One of the others fended off the killer by hitting him in the face with a shovel. And the bruise on your face is exactly where the killer's bruise would be."
"And you think that I'm the killer?" Wade begins to breathe heavier.
"You are a possibility." Jakob says. "You arrived in town the same time that the killer revealed himself."
"But haven't the murders been going on for a couple months?" Wade asks and the other two nod. "We'll, I've only been here a couple weeks."
"It would be the perfect cover." Tasha says. "Planning murders before showing your face in town."
"But I didn't do it." Wade says with a slight panicked tone. "You gotta believe me."
"We'll believe you... when we verify that you we're attacked." Jakob says a d rises from his seat. Tasha follows him out and they close the door. The two stand next to the two-way mirror and watch their suspect.
"Do you think he did it?" Tasha asks.
"It's possible." Jakob responds. "We don't really know him. For all we know he could be the killer and he's done this before. And there's just something about him that's... familiar."
