(Your POV)
For the first few minutes the car ride was pretty silent, Travis was sitting in the front fidgeting with his fingers while watching the trees pass. I was in the back seat while Jasmine was driving. Her car was an old jeep wagoneer that was clean as much as an old car can be cleaned. She had a collection of decorations hanging off the rearview mirror. It had that old car smell but not in a bad way.
We pulled up to an old apartment building and Travis hopped out and went to the back of the car and pulled out his backpack. I hadn't noticed but he was changed into what I assumed to be his normal wear. He had black skinny jeans with cuts throughout them, a loose grey tank top, a silver choker, and an orange jacket with black sleeves. I never noticed before but he had small gauges in his ears. He thanked Jammine and stumbled into the apartment building.
We drove off in silence again until Jasmine looked at the time, 5:37. She looked back at me and spoke. "Hey, do you want to head out to dinner before I take you home?"
"I'd love to but I don't have my wallet on me." I told her. It would be nice to get to know her more but I didn't want to be a bother.
"Oh, I don't mind spending my money on friends! Trust me, I'll take you to the best diner in this town!" She exclaimed while smiling.
"Thank you so much!" i told her and replied with a simple no problem.
We sat in silence until we pulled up to an old diner that was called Debby's Dinner. We were seated immediately in a booth. We ordered our drinks, Jasmine getting a lemonade and sat there for a bit in silence until Jasmine spoke up.
"Soooo, how about a simple game of 20 questions?" I nodded in agreement. " Alright, you'll ask the questions and I'll answer, then we'll switch." She said and I agreed.
(To make this easier, you'll have normal writing while Jasmine's speaking will be italicized)
"Your full name?"
"Jasmine Ollie Guzman"
" How long have you lived here?"
"I moved here when I was 3"
"How did you meet Travis?"
"Through high school, he's lived here his whole life. I would've met him in elementary but I was homeschooled until I became a freshman."
"What are your feelings about Travis?"
"Oh he's a great friend! He just needs to be more social and trusting of others"
" Why did you choose to work at the Asylum?"
"Travis had gotten a flyer just like yours and thought it would be a cool experience since he and I were interested in the paranormal. Back then he used to be a very confident social bee, always going to parties or entering houses that even I wouldn't enter. Nothing could stop him back then, but after a year of working at the asylum, which I joined in with him, he started to change to the untrusting introvert you know today. I think he started acting like this after being on the night shift alone for too long and I've tried to get him to change shift but he is head strong on being the only night shift worker. I was hoping when you started working with him you'd be able to change him back to his old personality."
I realised I brought up a sensitive subject when she began to speak in a saddened tone about it. I wondered what happened to Travis to cause him to change but I didn't linger on the thought so I could change the subject for Jasmine's sake.
"What's your favorite food?" I asked. She snapped out of her sad trance and instantly began talking about how much she liked lemons.
We finished our dinner and Jasmine dropped me off at my house. I pulled my bike out from the back of her trunk and she drove away. I laid down and my bed and thought about what Jasmine had told me about Travis. I wondered why he would drastically change like that just from working the night shift. Here's no way that's the reason why he would change, there must be a different reason why and I bet I'll be able to figure out tomorrow when I work the night shift.
(I felt like the original chapter rushed a bit too fast to my future story plans so I'm deleting the original chapter and uploading an altered version of it for chapter 8. This is the new chapter 6. and when I do upload chapter 8 I'll probably do a double update so you aren't reading the same thing again, except it will be a bit altered.)
