I watched the trees past as we drove off to our new home. Of course I was pretty happy about the move, I had lived (Your hometown) for all my life and hadn't been out of state until now. It was exciting, I would be able to meet new people, go to a new school, and since no one knew who I was, I could be a better person. Of course my parents never stated where we were moving to but they did say it would be in a small town within the woods.

We used to live in the big city of L.A in California. While I loved the state and city, it was a bit too much for an introvert, you could never find a quiet place to be and sometimes the crowds became overwhelming. The prices out there where to much for my family and with such a large population, jobs were scarce. These were the reasons my parents told me we were moving which I totally agreed with them. My parents had told me they had already found themselves a job where we were moving and wanted me to find a job when we got there.

Even though I was excited for a new experience of living, there was a sickening feeling in my gut telling me this town wasn't as peaceful as my parents had told me.

I woke up with a jolt from my parents telling me that we had arrived to are new home. The house was small but cozy, though there wasn't any houses nearby.

"How far is the town from our house?" I had asked my parents. I thought we would have nearby neighbors but I guess not, I wasn't that big of a deal, just as long as the town was close enough for me to bike to.

"Oh, it's just a 20 minute walk from our house to the town, sorry if that's a bother, this house was extremely cheap for how nice it is" My mom/dad told me. I mean, the house was a pretty nice house for its size.

"It's no bother, I was just curious." I had told my mom/dad before grabbing my suitcase and entering the house. It definitely looked bigger than the outside. When I entered, I saw the living room in front of me and to my right, it lead into a kitchen that had a dining room to the left of it. There weren't any walls that separated the rooms besides a counter in the kitchen that had stool to sit at in front of it In the dining room, there were sliding glass door that lead to our backyard. To my immediate left was a hallway that lead to a few doors, I assumed that was where the rooms were located.

I started to walk over there only for a hand to grab my shoulder, causing be to jump and quickly turn around only to see it was my mom.

"Hey hun, where are you going?" they asked me, their hand still on my shoulder. "Oh I thought the rooms were down that way." I told her, brushing off her hand. She smiled and spoke, "Oh your room is this way!" they said leading me to the dining room before making a left to a hallway I couldn't see from the doorway. At the end of the hall was the door leading into my bedroom but there was also another door to the right of mine. I was going to ask my mom but she already left towards her room. I walked up to the door and opened it and looked down at the stairs that lead to an abyss.

"Great, i get to sleep right by the basement, just what I wanted." I stated sarcastically and closed the door and walked into my room (just imagine a cool room you'd like).

After setting up my room with all my stuff and putting my clothing in my dresser, I jumped onto my bed and played on my phone until my mom/dad walked in with a newspaper.

"Hey, I thought since we moved to a new place, it would be a good way to meet new people by getting a job!" they smiled and tossed the newspaper in my lap before walking over to my window "Man, it's musty in here." they muttered and left, closing the door behind them. I groaned and rolled my eyes at the suggestion of getting a job. Well I guess it couldn't be that bad, I mean, I just moved here in the summer and haven't had the chance to make any friends, maybe my mom/dad was right, this could be a good way to make friends.

(Timeskip)

I groaned after hanging up on the last call I made. I've been trying to find a job for an hour now but every place I call keeps declining, it's stupid, they won't even give me the chance of an interview. I already went through the whole stack and none of the available working places would except me. A breeze blew through my room causing all the newspapers to scatter throughout my room. I groaned and begrudgingly got out of bed to pick up the mess.

As I gathered the newspapers in a messy pile I saw a flyer that wasn't in the pile before, it was an advertisement looking for teens to work at an abandoned asylum. I pondered on it for a bit but ultimately decided to give it a try, I mean it looks like the pay was good and some of the inmates they listed seemed interesting. Why not, let's' give it a shot, what could possibly go wrong?

( And that's the end of chapter one! Thanks for giving this story a read and I hope you stay to see what I have in store... :D Also I didn't want to be assuming on who your parents are so they won't be mentioned much)
