Chapter 7
"So, how about we go out somewhere?" Kenny asked as I closed my locker after putting my notebooks in there when school ended. "The diner, another restaurant, the movies."
"Someone's eager to go out," I said. "Normally, you don't want to go anywhere."
"I know," Kenny said. "But you and I both know how hard it is to just be together at home." He wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "And I honestly won't care about what other people say. I didn't kill that guy and if people want to ignore the news about it, then that's their problem."
"Well, yes, I do want to go somewhere," I said, wrapping my arms around his waist.
"I hear a but coming along," Kenny said.
"But I have a thing," I said.
Kenny raised his eyebrow. "A thing? Wow, sounds mysterious."
"It's not," I said. "I just have something to do first. But afterwards, we will for sure hang out."
Kenny sighed. "Fine, fine. What is this thing anyway?" I didn't see anything. "Calvin? What is it?"
"Nothing," I said.
"You know I don't like secrets," Kenny said, his lips curling into such an adorable pout.
"No, don't give me that look," I said. "You know I can't resist that look."
"So, it's working?"
"Not really."
Kenny sighed. "I just want to make sure you're going to be okay."
"I am," I said. "I promise, and as soon as I get back, I am all yours."
I gave Kenny two quick kisses before he sighed. "Okay."
"Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah," he said. "Yeah, definitely."
"Okay, you may be an actor, but I can tell when you're lying," I said. "What's up?"
"Nothing's wrong," Kenny said. "I mean, not really, I just....I've been thinking a lot about the, um, situation with Destiny and I....I'm just a bit worried, to be honest. You're going to be a dad and I'm still sixteen."
"Well, technically, you're going to be seventeen when the baby is born because the due date is after your birthday," I said. "Kenny, you have nothing to worry about, okay? You are still going to be in my life, no matter what happens, because I love you."
"Okay."
"Okay? You could at least say it back."
"I do love you."
I smiled slightly and leaned down, pressing my lips softly on his. He wrapped his arms tighter around my shoulders as he kissed me back.
Until someone cleared their voice, causing us to pull apart from each other. "I assume you know about the no kissing in the hallway rule, right?" Annie Goldsworth said.
"Oh, we were just....practicing for the play," I said. "You know, because everyone loves our scenes together."
Annie raised an eyebrow. "The play that was performed weeks ago?"
"Yeah, that one," I said. "I was thinking of doing an encore performance."
"Nice try," Annie said. "Follow the rules, or detention will come."
