Chapter 17
Summer was definitely my second favourite season and I was glad it was here. It could be my first favourite, but nothing could top winter, in my opinion at least. But at least for summer, we got two and a half months off before heading back to school.
Well, I wouldn't be heading back to school. I was just going to be in that theatre program at the university, but I wasn't going to take any classes. The only thing I actually found interesting was theatre, and I didn't want to pay to take classes about stuff I already knew.
The best part about the summer was being able to spend a lot more time with Kenny. We did anyway when there was school since I lived with him and his parents, but we didn't spend much time together during school since we had no classes together. We were only able to spend lunch together, but now, we had the whole summer to do anything we wanted.
Even something as simple as walking around the village, doing absolutely nothing. Well, we were on our way to the diner to get some milkshakes, but other than that, we were doing absolutely nothing.
"Is is always this hot in Spruceworth in the summer?" Kenny asked as we made our way to the diner with my arm around his shoulder and his arm around my waist.
"Is it always this hot in the city in the summer?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Then there's your answer. Spruceworth is right by the city, so of course the temperature is going to be the same."
Kenny sighed. "I like the cold better."
"You and me both. At least there's a lot to do here. We can go swimming, drink milkshakes....Yeah, there isn't that much to do."
"Great. Time to suffer in the heat. This is Canada. Why can't we have the stereotypes where it's winter all year round and everyone lives in igloos?"
"You really want to live in an igloo?" I asked.
"Why not?" Kenny asked. "It will always be cold, and I like the cold."
"You like the cold so much that you'd be willing to live in an igloo?"
"Yes."
"Alright then. Might as well move to Antarctica."
"Can we?"
"What? No. Trust me, I love the cold too and winter is my favorite season, but Antarctica is way too cold for my taste."
"You're lame."
I just rolled my eyes and kissed Kenny's cheek. "And you're cute."
"I know."
I just chuckled and gave him a quick kiss before we continued making our way too the diner. Kenny was so confusing at times. Sometimes, he was a cute little cinnamon roll and other times, he was so arrogant.
I loved him either way because he was that amazing.
"Kenny?" a voice behind us suddenly said. We both turned around to see that group of guys Kenny had problems with before he moved to Spruceworth.
And they probably just saw me kiss him twice.
Great, here came the harassment.
"Are you sure that guy is just your friend?" the one who seemed to be the leader of the group asked. I had no idea what his name was and to be honest, I didn't even care what his name was. "Or are you just manipulating him as well?"
