Chapter 19

Since Destiny was coming closer to the baby's due date, I was started to stress a lot more about being a dad. As much as I loved babies and little kids, I had no idea how to actually take care of them most of the time.

Destiny thought of a solution, and that was to take care of the trouble maker that was Anastasia. She had just turned out, just learned to walk not that long ago, and can form quite a few words. I thought taking care of her for the day would be fine.

       It wasn't.

I had no idea how Destiny and Dan took care of her. I turned around for three seconds to pick up something that fell on the floor, and the next thing I knew she was out of sight. Seriously, I couldn't see her at all.

I sighed as Kenny walked down the stairs. It was only us to at home since his dad was at work and his mom was grocery shopping, though he barely got any sleep last night because his back was sore. That happened some days. If he did too much, even by just walked around the village, his back will be hurting the next day.

"Are you still feeling a bit tired?" I asked.

"Yeah, kind of," Kenny said. "Why?"

"I really need help," I said. "I thought I would be able to take care of Anastasia, but I turn around for three seconds and suddenly, she's one. Like, this house isn't even that big. Where could she go?"

Kenny looked over at the other side of the couch. "She's hiding right there," Kenny said before walking over and picking her up. "You hungry?"

"Yeah!" Anastasia said with a big smile on her face.

Kenny looked at me. "Did they leave some snacks for her?"

I nodded and walked over to the diaper bag as Kenny sat down on the couch with Anastasia on his lap. I grabbed out one of the containers of Anastasia's snacks and sat down beside Kenny before handing it to him. "How did you know she was hungry?" I asked.

"Probably because she's Dan and Destiny's daughter," Kenny said as he opened the container, then grabbed one of the snacks, whatever it was, and let Anastasia eat it. "Emphasize on Dan's daughter. They're hungry all the time."

I sighed and leaned back into the couch. "I'm going to be a horrible dad."

"You're not going to be a horrible dad, Calvin," Kenny said. "You're amazing with kids, and it's not like you'll be raising him alone. Destiny knows what she's doing, and so does Dan. And even me, if you ever need help."

"How good are you with kids?" I asked.

"I'd say I'm pretty good," Kenny said. "At the church my family goes to, they sometimes have different events and they need someone to watch the younger children and play games with them so they're not bored while their parents socialize. That was usually me, because I'd honestly rather watch children than watch people socialize because I am not sociable at all."

"Great, so my boyfriend is probably going to be a better dad than I am," I said. "And don't deny being one, because you technically will be one."

       "Why?"

"Uh, it will make sense, since Dan will be his dad."

"Yeah, but he and Destiny already have a kid together, and they're engaged."

"So? We're dating. You're going to be in my son's life as much as I am."

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Well, except for the part about me being a better dad because let's face it, everyone has their own way of parenting."
