You sit still as the brush is slowly moving from the footprints nearby. The only thing between you and freedom, was one man with terrible intentions.
You slow your breathing to match the person's steps.
In your mind, one song kept going on repeat. She tied you to a kitchen chair, she broke your throne and she cut your hair, from your lips she drew a hallelujah.
The steps grew closer until they stopped. You hear a click. "She's not here sir." It was J. The man you punched.
"Then get back here and help!"
"Yes sir."
You waited for him to go. But he didn't.
He walked right over to you. "Listen, you have to trust me."
"I-i-i do." Your voice stuttered.
"Then take these keys, and my car is parked directly that way." he points. "It's about a mile or two out, so you will have to walk. It's a 2014 Chevy Camaro. Be safe." he set a small key chain in your hand and ran away.
You couldn't make yourself move. Your body was frozen.
Moments later your heart sirens. That's when you booked it in the direction J had said.
About 20 minutes later you make it to the car and fumble with the key chain, unlocking the door and peeling off the pavement onto the empty road.
You stop the car at a stop sign, miles away from that horror show.
"Why can't I just think?!" You slam your hands on the wheel. Your brain cloudy and fuzzy.
"I just can't right now..." You turn on the radio and the songs play.
You keep driving until you see a city sign. Phoenix Arizona 500 Miles
Where did he take you? Because you were driving to LA according to the map in his glove box.
You pull into the city about an hour or so later. (Give or take I don't know)
You pull over and get out, going straight to the first gas station you see and use the bathroom.
After doing your business, you wash your face. Extremely. It was gross and had dried tears and dirt and saliva and mucus. Gross.
You leave quickly with a small farewell, noticing it was 1 in the morning. You start the long drive back to California.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
A few hours later....You had parked in your empty driveway. Tire marks were there, but you don't know from what.
You open the door and Liam wasn't there. He wasn't anywhere in the house.
You sat down on the couch and just.... Stopped.
You stopped crying, stopped worrying, stopped wondering, and stopped caring.
This was all about all of your mistakes. Your regrets. Your careless tendencies. Your recklessness. Your idiocy and stupidity.
You go to the wall where you hung Tyler's note. You threw it on the ground. You went around screaming and trashing the place you once called home. You hadn't just broken the glass, you had broken yourself.
You sat on the floor with your knees under you, surrounded by shards of glass and broken dreams. If life was a game, what was your next move?
~David's POV~
"She was focking here and I saw her!" You were yelling at the police.
"Sir calm down, it was probably just a hallucination."
Evan walked over. "No, I saw her too. She was here I promise. She actually punched me." he kind of chuckled.
"Okay," the police officer sighed. "We will check it out. But first we have to take these guys to the station."
You nodded and sat down as the men left. "She was here and now she's gone. Again."
Tyler sat beside you. "Listen, at least we know she's safe. She got the fuck outta here. I mean I would've too, so I mean she's probably hiding out somewhere. Laying low. Letting the smoke clear."
"Yeah. That makes sense. So does anyone know who that guy was?"
Abbie walked over. "That was (Y/N)'s last boyfriend. They dated in highschool."
Tyler's eyes widened. "She hasn't dated since high school? Huh. I didn't see that one."
Brian walked over to join the conversation.
"His name was Keith. He was kind of an abusive drunk I guess. He left her in the worst ways when he was..... arrested."
No one wanted any further details.
"Cheer up David, we know she's okay." Brian said.
"Why don't you call the house?" Craig walked up and said.
"What?" Tyler said.
"Call her place. She probably tried to go there. Or is in the process of getting there. It's worth a shot. It's not like if she isn't there it's the end of the world." Craig shrugged.
~Your POV~
Your head jerks up when the phone rings. You walk over too it and pick it up, listening to only the other side.
"(Y/N)? Is that you?" it was Abbie.
You were silent. "Uh... Yeah...."
She shushed someone. "It's her thank the gods. (Y/N) we are so glad that you are safe! We have someone going to get you right now!" she sounded happy.
How come you didn't?
"Listen," your voice sharp and dry. "I have to go...." You hung up.
You set the phone down, looking at bloody knuckles.
"This is ridiculous (Y/N)! They are your friends. Let them help you...."
You look at your other hand. "But they didn't save you. You saved yourself. You are strong. You are independent. You are sick of standing by."
You flex your hands and sigh. "Honestly, I don't know what I am, I can't-"
There was a knock on the door. You look through the peephole.
"(Y/N)? I know you are still here."
Your jaw tightens. "Come in."
Brock walked in and sighed. "I'm glad you're okay." he engulfed you into a hug. "Now what happened to your house?"
"I-i just started getting u-upset and I couldn't he-help myself. I couldn't stop it either. It l-looks like a hurricane. I felt like one." You kept stuttering.
"It's okay. Let's just wait here for everyone else."
"I don't want too. I-i want to be alone right now." your shoulders fall in defeat.
"I understand, but I don't think that's what you need (Y/N)."
"What if it isn't?" You question.
"Touché. I'll make you a deal. I'll still for today, but tomorrow you gotta come up here and let us help. Okay?"
You nod. "What are you gonna do? About all that?"
"I'll figure it out. You have about two hours till they all show up, I can start cleaning it up and you should get a move on okay?"
You kiss his cheek. "Thank you. I can't express how thankful I am."
"Hey, you are like my little sister. This is my job. Now be a good 24 year old and drive safely towards wherever you are going." he smiled.
You nod and grab the camaro keys, you didn't even know where your car was, so that was off the table.
Once in the car you figure out where you want to go, and start the ride.
