You couldn't believe it. You're standing here, with a shattered soul, and battered heart.

Your swing comes to a halt. "I-"

"Don't rush yourself. Sleep on it. Do whatever you need."

"David. I'm speechless."

"Good or bad? Because it is tree in tha morning..."

You smile. "Three."

"Yeah. Tree."

"No. Three."

"Oh shut up."

"It's still a lot to handle."

"Like I said, sleep on it."

You purse your lips. "But what if I don't actually fall asleep?"

He raised and eyebrow, "And why wouldn't ye?"

"Because I'm... "

"Wait (Y/N) no stop!"

"A night owl!"

He gets off the swing groaning.

You start laughing and start swinging higher. "I mean that's not the reason but I'll go with it."

"Well ya gonna tell me the reason?" You could tell, at even three in the morning, when he was doing his puppy dog eyes.

"I've been having bad dreams, and I've been super stressed. It's easier to not sleep. I've been on a tiny adrenaline high, but it's not adrenaline... It's kinda like fear."

He was leaning up against the swing set bar. "You don't have to live in fear, Keith is gone."

"But, how do I know people still aren't out there? It's a lot to worry about."

"Then let me worry about your troubles."

"I've got it kid."

"Yer jokin?"

"Nah, it's fine."

He sighed. "(Y/L/N) you can't fool me. I know ya better than that at least."

Your swinging slowed and your hand gripped the swing chain. "Yeah. But that's not my point."

"It's mine, now let's go home and get some rest."

He was walking to the car and you stare at him, your face in a blank expression.

"I don't know kiddo." You say to yourself as you catch up.

You pulled in and the first thing you noticed was Tyler wasn't there yelling at you at four in the morning.

Huh. He must've fallen asleep.

You and David fall asleep on the couch, but at around 7 you heard Abbie's voice, so you went to her and told her everything.

She had wide eyes and an open mind. "Don't rush things okay?"

"I don't know if I'm ready for that mentally."

She patted your back. "Marriage is a lot of work, but I see his point. He clearly is head over heels with you, and you've known him for like four years."

"But I just bought a house. I have my dog and myself to worry about first."

"Honey I understand... But don't shut it down to quickly, but don't jump ahead of yourself."

You nod. "This is the most difficult decision I've ever made. Except for the time I was considering dropping out if high school to become a prostitute. Maybe I should've."
