My body

They don't understand
The body that looks back in the mirror
With pain filled eyes and regret
It's mine.
This body that has scars and bruises
Along with ink in intricate designs
It's mine.
This body with too wide hips
And a chest bigger then I dream
Is all mine and I have to live with it.
All the hormones I pump into my veins
And knives I let rip into it
Won't change that at the end of the day
This body is mine
and I know exactly how it started out.
All the progress in the world won't let me forget that I wasn't born me.
I had to re make my body to call it truly mine.
