Everlasting Hope

I miss those late night drives
that lasted from the last light
on the street going out
to right when the sun peeked out
behind those trees
that we'd climb, pretending to be free.
I miss resting my head on your shoulder
Sitting in that big field with the clovers
Remember those times we spent hours searching for our luck?
We talked about what happened after death,
Listening to music thats lyrics were worse than a sailors mouth.
You use to run your fingers through my hair
Telling the stars and moon why you wanted to run away
To a place where no one knew your face
And I said I'd come to keep you out of trouble
But we both knew we were running from place that left us aching in pain for a home.
Remember when you looked me in the eye?
Telling me we'd be each others family because no one else wanted us
so two broken souls formed into one
And now there is a half missing as I stand at your grave wondering if you were finally home.
