I've had masks on since the day I was born
But I took them all off for you
I let you in
Told you things I never would have to another
I know my choice isn't fixable
I'm not trying to change it
You're deluded if you think
That even for a moment
I need you to feel better about myself
I like you for your humor
For the way you smile
And your skills in writing
I like you for the way your soul
Touches mine
Not forcing it to change
I was myself with you
And it felt nice making you smile
Watching your eyes light up
As you spoke of things I couldn't understand
But I listened and learned
Taking comfort in your body next to mine
Getting lost in your eyes
And watching the sun turn your hair golden
During early mornings
Where it was just us
