Katatapos lang nitong hawiin ang kurtina kung saan nasilip kong ibinubutones ni Adria ang suot. "But, she can stay the night just to be sure." Pagkarinig n'yon ay tinalikuran lang ako ng huli at nahiga na. Nagbago naman ang ekspresyon ng aking kausap dahil sa sunod niyang sinabi. "I can report this to the head mistress, if you prefer?"
Ang pagbabalita sa reyna ang inasikaso ko kaya saglit na nawala kanina. Umiling na lang ako sa nurse bilang tugon sa suhestiyon nito. Hindi na 'to nagtanong pa at tahimik na lang na bumalik sa upuang malapit sa pinto ng infrimary.
Naupo ako sa bakanteng kama malapit sa kinahihigaan ni Adria. All I did was stare at her back for minutes.

Napailing ako sa biglaang pagbalik sa isip ko nang mga nangyari. Before I start remembering everything else, I stood up and left without knowing if Adria is still awake or not. May mas importante akong dapat pagtuunan ng pansin kaya tinahak ko na ang pasilyo patungo sa dapat kong paroonan.
"How could the barrier have weaken?"
"Don't you think that this can also be just false information?"
I faintly heard what the people from inside the huge door are discussing about. As soon as I stepped inside, their attention focused on me. Ikinagulat halos ng lahat ang makita ako maliban sa reyna.
"You came right in time, Cyan."
"Head mistress, why is a student here?" kinuwestyon agad ni propesor Thadius ang pagdating ko. "His presence isn't needed."
"He's just a mere child!" dagdag pa ng isa.
Umugong ang bulungan. All of Elixir's professors are seated in one huge round table. They're currently conducting a meeting about the incident that I reported moments ago.
"Pardon my rudeness, Professors, I'm the one who experienced the barrier's weakening, first hand." Naikuyom ko ang kamao dahil sa sarili kong kapabayaan. Kung wala si Adria sa tabi ko kanina, baka hindi ako ang nakatayo sa harap nila ngayon.
"Let him stay, we must continue to discuss issues of great importance," the Head Mistress exclaimed that silenced the hall for a few seconds.
Tumikhim si propesora Éclair bago ibinalik sa 'kin ang atensyon. "Mr. Exorde, how are you sure that the barrier has in fact weakened?" Matapos ang tanong na 'yon ibinaling ng lahat sa loob ng silid ang mga mata sa direksyon ko.
"I clearly heard a minotaur's howl, and I was almost devoured by a mermaid in the lake if not for my student apprentice's aid."
Napuno na naman ng bulungan ang malaking silid. After all, mermaids and minotaurs are not considered as ordinary creatures. They are amongst the strongest beasts in Amystrea. In fact, it's rare for them to be spotted in the same territory, which got me thinking.
"I'm afraid the barrier has been breached, in connection to the anonymous letter I've showed everyone months ago."
Each of the professors expression changed immediately having remembered what was written in the letter. They even exchanged glances before Professor Widwick stood up.
