Chapter Seven - In His Arms

My pencil flowed over the coarse drawing paper; trying to get the demons out of my head. Even although I was back on Earth and we were all safe... relatively safe, I was still haunted; plagued with the images of Bruce. The Bruce that swung from the ceiling, covered and pricked with needles and pins. My drawing was detailed and dark, remembering every drop of his precious blood. I felt like screaming but just dug my pencil deeper into the paper. The door of my bedroom squeaked open revealing my best friend. Thor trudged in and wrapped his arms around me. I let the tears fall. I wanted to take the pain away from Bruce. I wanted myself to suffer, not him.

"Cyanide," Thor murmured, raising my chin to face him. "It's okay. Banner is stable. Don't worry."

"What about Loki though? Will Odin make him pay?" I whimpered, throwing my notepad to the floor. Thor's eyes followed the pages, observing and taking in the dark images of the tortured Avenger.

"Father will find a way to punish my brother. I truly am sorry for his mistreatment of you. And of Banner of course." Thor contemplated.

"Thor, I'm scared," I cried, "What if Loki escapes?"

I hung my head in my hands, smudging my makeup around my face. Thor rubbed my back comfortingly, yet said nothing. I grabbed the gun off of my bed, closed my eyes and started to shoot the thick titanium on the back of my door. I shot one bullet, making a slight dent. Shot another, hitting in the centre of the dent making it larger. I kept shooting. Bang. Bang. Bang. To the point that the dent became a hole and the bullet whizzed through the hole into the hall.

"So... you have your father's aim and your mothers skill?" Thor chuckled.

"I'm getting ready for Loki. I ain't leaving anything to chance." I growled. Thor's eyes widened.

"You kill Loki and Fury will have your head. He's the enemy but no one should die." Thor contended.

I sighed. "Okay."

Thor stood up and opened my wardrobe. I looked down to see that I was still in my Iron Man PJs. I had a nice collection of Avengers merch, much to Tony's amusement. Thor pulled out a pair of dark skinny jeans and a black long-sleeved t-shirt with red stripes down the arms.

"Get changed and I will take you to Banner." He nodded and left the room.

I grabbed a piece of plain paper and celotaped it onto the hole I created and set off to get changed. I pulled one black converse and a red one. I cleaned up my make up and pulled my curls into a pony tail. I clicked on my surf board necklace and opened my bedroom door. Thor smiled and took my hand. We ran towards the emergency room.

The walls were an off-white, and the sheets covering Bruce's body were a pale blue. Pepper insisted that the emergency room in Stark Tower were a little less stark than hospitals. Bruce cracked open his eyes and smiled weakly when I entered into the room. He winced in pain as he sat up slowly and held out his arms for me. I crushed him in a massive hug, not thinking of the pain I would be putting him through. It felt good being back in his arms.

"Okay," Bruce chocked, "That's enough,"

I pulled away fast, blushing. "I'm so sorry!" I gushed.

"Don't worry." He paused. "I gotta get outta here."

I smiled and left the room, heading towards Bruce's bedroom. His room was neat, only a few things scattered across the floor. The walls were a calming blue and the carpet was a plush cream. The furniture was a dark wood and science equipment and various books and a computer littered the surfaces. I opened his chest of drawers and pulled out a pair of dark jeans and a plaid shirt. I picked up a white t-shirt from his floor and a pair of loafers. I grabbed a heart rate monitor from his bed side table and his glasses. I headed back down to the emergency room. On my way I bumped into Tony.

"Hey Ton!" I cheered. He raised his eyebrows at me and ran his hand through his dirt brown hair.

"Hey Cyanide! So, are you considering my offer?" He smirked. I nodded.

"I have considered it a lot, dear sir," I mocked, smirking myself.

"I'll take that as a no," He sighed, rolling his chocolate brown eyes.

"I need to see to Bruce, Ton, I'll get back to when I'm ready." I said, walking off. As rude as it seemed for me to just walk off it was normal manners.

Bruce excepted the clothes gratefully. He limped over to the bathroom to get changed. I sat down on the bed, waiting patiently for him. He came back through, slowly doing up the buttons on his plaid shirt. I stood up, stopping him from fiddling with the remaining buttons. I undone the buttons and untucked the white t-shirt. I let my hands move over the t-shirt, under his shirt.

"Tony..." I started.

"Wow, way to ruin the mood Cece. Just mention Tony, why don't you" Bruce chuckled, slumping on the bed beside me.

"As I was saying. Tony has made a proposition," I continued. Bruce's eyes lit up with interest. "He believes that I should become one of the Avengers."

Bruce sat up straighter. "How come?"

"I can shoot." I put plainly. Bruce raised his eyebrows. "I'm thinking of accepting."

"I'm thinking something else, Ce," Bruce replied.

"Hm?" I faced him. A shaky hand came up to my face and cupped my chin. I clicked what he was thinking. He wanted to kiss me. I bit my lip. "I missed you Mr Banner," I murmured.

He smirked and then our lips met. I felt like I was on superhero heaven. But all I could still see was a tortured Bruce Banner when I closed my eyes.
