Chapter Fourteen - Keeping Afloat

I woke up, lying on my side. The floor was wet, about an inch in water. I sat up, my head spinning and Bruce lay unconcience beside me. That's when the previous advents came to me. The electricity that was pulsed and struck in me and Bruce until we passed out; the pain; the way my heart beated faster than ever yet wanted to shut down. I gently shook him awake as I looked around. Concrete walls surrounded me. Bruce groaned, rubbing the back of his head. I helped him up and I looked down at the concrete floor. The inch of water had raised up to my ankles. I looked around for a way out. The hight of the room was over twice the height of Bruce. That went my eyes met with a way out. A small round window on the ceiling. By now I was waist deep in water.

"Bruce," I whispered shakily. Bruce looked down at me, taking my hand. "I can't swim."

Bruce's eyes widened. "You can't?" I bit my lip. I was shaking like my mad as the water rose to my chest. "Do you trust me?" I nodded.

Bruce's eyes went bright green and he started to change. His body grew, his face pulsated. His skin was green, with bulging veins and muscles. I didn't know what he was doing, but I trusted him. I had to. After all I... loved him. He took me up in his arms and looked me in the eyes.

"I l-love you Bruce," I stuttered. His eyes softened a bit as he raised me towards the sky light.

"Sorry," He boomed simply and shoved me through the glass. The glass shattered around me, poking into my skin. The sky was way too blue to be New York. I looked down at the cell below, to see Bruce curled up at the bottom of the water.

"NO!" I screamed. "Bruce! Wake up!"

He just stayed there, like a pebble in the bottom of the ocean. The water terrified me, but Bruce motionless scared me more. My breathing was shaky and it was rough. My lungs couldn't seem to take in enough air, while his were probably filling with water. A life sustaining liquid that was slowly killing him. I looked towards the heavens and screamed at the top of my lungs. I looked down at Bruce's body with burning eyes and suddenly I was under the water next to him. The rage in my heart held his body in my arms and was transported back onto the roof.

"Bruce!" I yelled in his motionless face. "Wake up. For my sake, wake up!" I slapped him hard across the face, causing him to shoot up, coughing and spluttering.

"What just happened?" He chocked, his eyes glazed over. Then it kicked in what just happened. I teleported.

"I don't know," I whispered. Bruce stood up weakly and looked off the edge of the cell. He looked back at me with a flushed face.

"You're not afraid of heights are you?" Bruce asked, worriedly.

I shook my head and walked over to him. I pictured the kitchen of Stark Tower in my minds eye. I grabbed Bruce's hand, whispering a faint 'trust me' before my stomach turned and the airy sky turned into a gleaming kitchen. I touched the counters just to make sure it was real. Bruce was frozen with fear.

"How..." He stuttered. I shrugged and hopped onto one of the bar stools. "Does Tasha and Clint know about this?" I shrugged again.

At that Thor, Loki and a very annoyed looking Steve walked in. Loki looked very pleased with himself and judging from Steve's expression, Loki must have done something to tick off Captain America. Thor ruffled my hair.

"Where were you? Steve was frantic!" He chuckled.

"We were captured, tortured and then I found out somehow that I'm a teleported. And now here we are. And anyway, Steve wouldn't ever be frantic let alone about me." I rambled. I stood up and pushed three jaws back into place. "Alright goldfish. What's the plan?"

"Natasha and Clint reported back to us that they arrived and are raging that you weren't there. Clintasha are still in the tree. The park is surrounded. There is no way in or out." Stark informed us as he strolled into the kitchen. Bruce glanced over to me, and I hung my head.

"There is a way in... and out," I mumbled. I thought a little. "Ton, get suited up and report back. Loki, you'll come with me. So will you Steve. Bruce, I want you to stay here and tell me what the heck is going on with me."

"I'll need a blood sample," Bruce acknowledged. I nodded. Tony went off by himself and we turned in the direction of the lab. I jumped onto a work bench and Bruce took out a needle from one of the drawers. He slid the point through my skin, taking a little blood from my viens. "Okay, I'll get as much information as I can for you. But you need to go now."

Tony zoomed through, all in gold and red. "Fly to the park, T. We'll be there. We'll distract them as you arrive." I told him, before grabbed both Steve and Loki's hands.

It was a weird feeling and even the look on Bruce's face was close to the bizzare spasm in my stomach as our skin touched. I pictured my parents and the beautiful green grass of Central Park and then with a flip of the stomach and through faded colours, we were there. The grass was wet with morning dew and the sun was starting to rise. We silently climbed up the tree that my parents were on.

"Is there something you want to tell me?" I turned to mum. "Y'know something about me? It may be a little important."

She sighed. Mum saw us just appear. She knew what I were on about. "Not now, Cyanide. Look, it's Stark," she pointed quietly at the sky.

"Show time," I whispered to Loki, who grinned in return.
