Chapter Two - Awakening
I woke up with a goatee in my face. I flapped Tony out of my face and let my eyes readjust to the light. I groaned. Where on Earth was I? The walls were white and the bedding was white. Everything was white. My worst nightmare. I felt numb and fuzzy. Mum, Black Widow, was sitting on the end of my bed. She was wearing a simple red tank top and a pair of dark jeans.
"Hey sleepy head, how are you feeling?" She cooed. Dad, Hawkeye, was standing at the end of my bed with Pepper and Tony. Tony looked amused with my situation but dad and Pepper looked concerns. "You've been out for a six days," Mum said, patting my leg.
"My head hurts," I moaned. That's when I started to remember. The kiss, the... hulk. "Bruce," I whispered. I needed to see him. It had been six days. A week since this all happened. I sat up fast, causing my headache to grow. I needed to see Bruce. That was the only thing I cared about. "Where is he?"
"Who?" Mum asked.
"Bruce!" I exclaimed, my head thumping.
"He's in the lab. Barely left it since Monday. He's been quieter than usual too." Tony answered. "What happened? You were unconscious in his lab and he was totally panicking and depressed!"
"It doesn't matter," I looked over to Pepper who looked like she was calculating something in her head. I slowly got out of bed, ignoring the pounding in my head. "I need to go find him... after I've gotten dressed..." My voice trailed off as I looked at the thin cotton hospital shirt.
We filled in all the forms and drove back to Stark Tower. I had never been so glad to get home in my life. I rushed into my room, removing the clothes from my wardrobe. I wanted to look nice, to cheer Brue up. I grabbed my little pink flowery dress on and my big black hoody. I put on a pair of black socks and my All Stars. I brushed my hair and put in some product, so my shiny red hair was bouncing with natural curls and put a little bit or mascara on. I was so nervous. I put on the necklace that he had gotten me from a mission in Florida. It was a little blue surf board on a black cord.
I raced down the corridors towards his lab. I slid open the door. My heart was thudding. My vision blurred. I looked around the lab. Bruce was no where to be seen. I took a deep breath in, by head thumping.
"Bruce?" I called out, walking down between the work benches. "Bruce?"
"Cece?" I heard from the back of the room. I rushed over to him. His eyes were bloodshot, watery and had deep dark circles around them. He was sitting against the wall, a gun in his hand. I took it off of him putting it behind me.
"Why on Midguard did you have a gun?!" I exclaimed, sitting against the wall beside him. Midguard? I had obviously spent too much time with Thor.
"I got low. Tried to put a bullet down my throat and the other guy spat it out." He whispered. I put my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. "You look beautiful." I heard him say. "I'm sorry about-"
"Shhhhh..." I interrupted. I felt for his hand, and our fingers laced together. His head rested on mind and I heard him sigh.
"Oh wow, would you look at that." A rough but smooth voice entered the room. I opened my eyes and Bruce shuffled away from me. Tony looked at us with mischievous eyes. "Who would have thought? JARVIS did you get a picture of this?"
"Yes Sir," Jarvis replied.
"Send it to my Clintasha," He smirked before leaving the room.
"I'm dead," I whispered. Bruce laughed a little. He looked at his heart moniter and then turned back to me. He smiled and stood up. He gave me his hand to help me up. He was wearing jeans. He only ever wore slacks, but he looked so much hotter in his jeans and t-shirt. I stood up with his help and stood on my tip-toes so I could lace my arms around his neck.
"I missed you," He muttered into my hair. I smiled shyly and played with the longer strands of hair. "I thought you would be angry with me."
My feet started to hurt due to being on my tip-toes, so I went back on the balls of my heels. I shook my head. "I could never be angry with you," I murmured. Everything went silent apart from the steady beat of his heart monitor. "Jeans suit you by the way," I laughed, pulling on the pockets. Bruce smiled and lifted me up onto one of the work tables so I was a little taller than him. I ran my hands over the stubble on his chin. It felt rough.
"Sorry, I haven't shaven," He mumbled.
"Don't," I smirked, kissing along his jaw. "Have you got control of your heart?"
He took a deep breathe and I kissed him. His breathing merged with mine until we were no longer breathing. His hands sat firmly on my hips as mine drew into his hair. It only lasted a couple of seconds before he pulled away, breathing hard. His eyes were dazed and his lips were swollen. I just felt on fire. I leaned forward and put my head on his chest and undone the monitor from his wrist. I just listened to his heart beat until it was back on a steady beat. He took my hand and I slipped off the table wordlessly. We walked towards the games room; the room Tony dedicated to a massive flat screen TV and a pool table. Bruce slid a DVD into the player and sat down on the massive brown sofa. I sat next to him, my head on his chest, his arm around my shoulders. I pulled a blanket up to my neck and cuddled further into him.
And that's when mum and dad came in. They looked at us confused. But didn't say a word. Maybe I wasn't going to be as dead as I thought.
