Three horses rode out into the thunderstorm. Arthur followed the path he knew they'd taken, until he didn't recognise anything.
"We went off the path... I can't remember where! Oh God... no!"
"Arthur, it's alright, we'll find him, he'll be fine!"
"No, he's probably dead already!"
"Why?"
"We were attacked by bandits and one injured..." Arthur trailed off as he saw a strange light. It was coming from a bush just off the path. Gwen and Gaius stared down to where Arthur was gazing. Gaius looked back, seeing the same silver light heading back the way they came.
"I believe it's a path, to Merlin," Gaius stated, not revealing that it was Merlin who cast the spell. Gwen didn't yet know, Merlin would tell her in his own time. The three pushed on into the forest, desperate to find the boy before dusk fully set in. After a few minutes riding, they came across the clearing, still with a few bandit bodies, dead. Merlin was there as well, under a silver shield, protecting him from nature's harm. His blue shirt was stained a dark red from the bleeding gash on his stomach. Gaius almost jumped off his horse to run to the boy. He stopped at the shield, unsure whether he could pass through. He slowly took a step inside, and nothing stopped him. Gwen took Gaius' bags, filled with medical supplies, and handed it to him. Her hands just passed through and she took them back in an instant. The pain had been like a million little stabs. Arthur tried to enter, but he was rejected entry as well. His pain, however, had been so bad, his skin had cut, leaving small drops of blood on his palm. The two were confused, why could Gaius enter, but neither of them could?
"Merlin, it's alright... please let them in? I know why you're doing this, but they want to help you..." Gaius begged of the boy. The old man looked up to see the sliver shield fading from above, raindrops falling on his head. Gwen and Arthur moved in to help. After Gaius had done a quick check on all Merlin's injuries, he got Arthur to sit him on his horse. The King and servant trailed behind the group as they rode back to Camelot, nervousness clearly in all three rider's minds.

A/N: Sorry if the author's notes at the end are getting annoying to anyone, but I like to say something at the end of each chapter, and I hope you would, too. I love feedback from anyone, good or bad. As I said before, this is my first fanfic and I want to know if you're enjoying it. I'll be publishing in big groups like I just have, they won't be regular, just so you know.
