My eyes fluttered open at the sound of knocking at Ginny's bedroom door. I searched the sunlit room to see Ginny's empty made bed.
Another knock.
'Come in,' I yawned, my weak and tired arms pushing me up into a sitting position.
Fred opened the door slowly before casually strolling in and sitting down on the end of the bed.
'Hi, you alright?' He grinned.
I shuffled uncomfortably, fully aware of the fact that I most likely looked like a distressed bear who'd just had 20 years of restless sleep.
'Did you sleep alright?'
'Yeah, fine. Sorry, I probably look awful,' I apologised.
'Don't worry about it, you look great,' he smiled, looking away sheepishly after realising the words that just came out of his mouth.
There was a long awkward silence following the unexpected compliment I was just given.
'Well, I just came to tell you breakfast is on the table if you want to come down.' He headed towards the door. 'Oh and we have to leave early today, meeting some of Dad's friends before the big quidditch match,' he informed me before winking and leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
Winking was one thing he'd never done to me before. Why did he wink? I quickly discarded the thought, shaking my head, getting out of bed and grabbing my outfit for the day: A purple hoodie and jeans, that should be fine. It's only quidditch anyway.

After breakfast, I went with Ginny to wait outside the house for everyone else.
We walked for what felt like an hour before meeting a man and his... highly attractive son.
'Ahh, Amos! How are you?' Arthur asked, greeting the man with a friendly handshake. 'This must be Cedric!' Arthur smiled, gesturing to a tall, brunette boy.
The boy, Cedric, approached me slowly, smiling.
'Hi,' he grinned.
'Hi, I'm Hermione, Hermione Granger.' I felt heat rise to my cheeks as I said it.
'Hermione,' Cedric smiled, 'cute.'
I blushed, looking down at my feet uncomfortably.
'I'm Fred,' Fred interrupted, stepping in front of me to shake the attractive brunette's hand, 'Granger, can I quickly talk to you over there?'
'Umm... sure?' I agreed, confused by his odd behaviour, following him away from the group.
'I don't think you ought to get too close with that Cedric, I don't trust him.'
'Oh?' I laughed in defence, 'and why not may I ask?'
'He just seems off,' he said, glaring at Cedric out of the corner of his eye.
'Oh, so now it's your job to tell me who I can and can't "get close" to?' I rolled my eyes. 'What is this, Fred? Why do you feel the need to care about me all of a sudden?'
'I don't, I-'
' Just forget it, okay? You don't need to go all "big brother" on me or whatever this is. A guy like that would never go for a girl like me anyway,' I smiled sadly, running off to go see Ginny.

'Right we need to go now, come on kids,' Arthur said.
I began walking with Ginny relieved to get away from the incredibly awkward situation.
'Man that boy is smooth. I stuttered like 17 times, I never stutter, what the hell?' she laughed. 'Oh by the way, what was all that?' she gestured to Fred.
'What was that?' I replied, even though we both knew I fully understood what she meant.
'That whole thing, with Fred. He was all over you and seemed pretty jealous,' she shrugged.
'Jealous?' I laughed hysterically, 'Of what?'
'I don't know, he just seemed... I don't know, different when Cedric came.'
'You know what, you must have done something right because Cedric can't keep his eyes off of you,' I lied.
'Really? I'll be back in a bit,' Ginny giggled, rushing over to Cedric.
'Hey,' I spoke softly, approaching Fred, 'what's up?'
'Look, Granger, you don't have to pretend to like me. I know I was out of place and I'm sorry.'
'No don't apologise, just, what's going on with you? You can't deny you haven't been acting different recently,' I reasoned.
'Yeah, no I'm fine now, all fine. I shouldn't be sticking my nose in your business. Don't you be worrying 'bout me, Granger.' He smiled, giving a wink and running to catch up to George in front.
Twice. He's winked at me twice today. What's happening? Oh my god. He can't- no, he couldn't possibly... like me? No. He's practically my brother. But yes. He's winked at me twice in one day, he brought up how long we've known each other, he got jealous when I spoke to Cedric- oh no, does Fred Weasley have a crush on me? Fred freaking Weasley?
