The quidditch match was long and dull. I zoned out every five seconds just thinking about Fred and I couldn't zone back in, it was highly irritating. Boys shouldn't be and never have been a priority in my life and then all of a sudden I'm zoning out in one of the most important wizarding games of the year.
When the game was finally finished, we crowded into a rather bland-looking tent, which, to my surprise, seemed ten times bigger on the inside. It was a lot more decorative too. There was bunting lining the rounded walls, fairy lights had also been artistically hung around the room. The tent was obviously charmed to look smaller on the outside, it might be a simple spell but I personally thought this was an extraordinary piece of magic.
'I think Granger approves,' Fred chuckled at my awestruck face.
I attempted to ignore the blush that was rising to my cheeks.
'It's just really amazing that we can make something so tiny look like this on the inside,' I grinned.
'Yeah, I guess it is,' Fred chuckled before being called by George in another room.
'Come on let's go check out our room!' Ginny squealed eagerly, running past me and disappearing into another room in the tent.
I was about to follow when there was a disturbing uproar of a crowd outside.
'Sounds like the Irish have got their pride on,' George grinned, him and Fred joining us back in the centre of the tent.
'That's not the Irish,' replied Arthur, his face turning a pale white. 'We need to get out of here right now!' He yelled, 'George get Ginny, Harry and Ron out here.' He began pacing while George ran off to gather everyone together.
'Come on we need to go.' Fred grabbed my hand, leading me to exit the tent.
'But what about Ginny? And Harry? And-'
'We don't have time Hermione, you heard Dad! I'm sorry but we need to get out of here right now!'
He sounded panicked. I knew when the twins were panicked then something must be wrong. I stopped resisting him and let him drag me out of the tent into a swarm of unknown faces, every single one of them containing a look of pure horror.
Fred and I began running and I took a moment to look back to see my friends leaving the tent. They would be safe. They were with George. And he's their big brother after all.
Fred and I continued our search for a safe route out of the campsite, still sprinting along with the crowd. Someone had to know where we were going didn't they?
I looked back at my friends one last time, ensuring they were safe. But instead I saw Harry, knocked and battered and lying helplessly on the floor, his eyes clenching shut in defeat.
'Harry!' I screamed, releasing my hand from Fred's, sprinting to save my best friend.
I was halfway there before I felt a strong hand clamp around my arm to stop me.
'You have to leave him! He'll be okay, Hermione.' Fred gave a sincere, reassuring smile.
I nodded sadly and we continued our sprint to escape the chaotic scene.
My eyes were stinging with tears at the thought that I'd abandoned Harry so easily and I hated myself for it. I could picture him, lying lifeless on the ground whilst people trampled on him in the chaos.
I wanted to turn back but it was too late, I'd already made the decision and it would be too dangerous to try to get back to him.
Our running seemed to slow and I came out of the daydream that I wasn't aware I had been in.
When we stopped in some woods just off of the campsite I felt my hands begin to tremble from the sickening feeling of leaving Harry behind.
Fred took my hand and squeezed it gently.
'He'll be okay. He's the boy who lived after all,' he joked, 'some people knocking him down isn't going to harm him,' he sounded sure of it but he didn't look it. 'Once we're certain it's safe, I'll go with you to make sure he got out alright, okay?' He smiled a genuine smile.
'Thank you.' I tried to smile back but I didn't have the energy for it.
'Hermione!' Ginny yelled, throwing her arms round me. "You bloody scared me! I thought you got hurt!' she said, letting go before hugging me again as if to make sure I was really there. 'Oh my god... Harry! I need to go and find him we couldn't get to him out there, got dragged away by the crowd.'
'We need to find him right now,' I agreed, beginning to walk back towards the campsite.
'Hermione, we don't know if it's safe ye-' Ron started.
'My best friend is out there! Ron, your best friend! We have to go help him, he could be hurt! He could be unconscious!' I knew I shouldn't shout but I also knew he wouldn't listen if I didn't. Ron was trying to protect me. But I didn't care, I was not willing to lose my best friend.
'Okay,' Fred said.
"What?" I asked, caught off guard by his sudden willingness.
'Let's go get Harry,' Fred said in defeat, heading toward the edge of the woods.
'What are you doing?' I asked, confused.
'Well I know you're not taking no for an answer but I also know I'm not letting you go alone,' he grinned, disappearing behind the trees.
