We had been some of the first people to arrive in the common room, Ron and I made our way to the comfiest chairs in the common room but Harry wanted to go to his dorm to let Hedwig out.
The common room gradually got busier as the evening went on, I caught Fred looking at me a few times but I ignored it, if he wanted to speak to me he'd have to make an actual effort instead of waiting for me to go over.
Ron saw me looking. Again. God why did I keep doing that.
"The twins drove Mum crazy over the summer, being able to perform magic outside of Hogwarts and all," Ron explained.
"I wouldn't expect any less," I grinned, receiving a chuckle from Ron.
"In a couple years we'll be able to do that." He looked hopeful, "Although I bet you won't use it at all unless you really have to, so responsible," he teased.
"Of course I will! I'll have to use magic daily to fix all of yours and Harry's failed attempts," I retorted, playfully.
The loud talking in the common room abruptly stopped. I looked around, seeing Harry and Seamus stood in the centre. Seamus was spouting blame at Harry about how he almost wasn't allowed to come back to Hogwarts after Harry's claims that You-Know-Who was back.
"Ron..." I started, noticing how furious he looked, "just leave it."
I was ignored as Ron stormed over, "what's going on?"
"Do you believe the rubbish he's coming out with about You-Know-Who?" Seamus scoffed.
"Yeah, I do," Ron said, jaw clenched. If that sentence had come out of anyone else's mouth, Seamus wouldn't have backed down for even a second but Ron could be incredibly intimidating at times, probably because of his height, and Seamus immediately stepped away.
"Anyone else got a problem with Harry?" Ron asked the room.
Everyone began slowly returning to their previous conversations before anyone else decided to speak up. I felt someone sit down next to me and jumped slightly as I snapped my attention away from the tense atmosphere lingering in the room.
"Somebody scares easy, I'll remember that for next time," Fred smirked.
"What do you want?" I rolled my eyes.
"We weren't finished last night when Harry got back," he began, "I just want to know where we stand."
I nodded, avoiding eye contact.
"Are you pissed at me?" he looked offended.
"No," I lied, not that I even had a reason to be mad.
"Gonna stop lying to me?" he tilted my chin up, forcing eye contact.
"You just want to know where we stand so that you don't feel guilty when you're flirting with every other girl. Do what you want, Fred, we aren't dating," I sighed, getting up to go and see Harry and Ron.
