I knocked on Fred's bedroom door and waited patiently. Harry had gone to his hearing first thing this morning with Mr Weasley and I was in dire need of a distraction.
The door opened, "you alright?" he spoke softly with a hint of concern in his eyes.
"Not particularly," I attempted a laugh.
"Wanna come in?" he asked and I peered into his room, "George is out, I think Tonks needed help on an errand, I was still in bed." He moved out of the door frame to let me in. "So this is about Harry's hearing I assume."
I nodded. "I told him that he couldn't possibly be expelled, what if I'm wrong? What if they decide he has to go and I've given him completely false hope?" I rambled.
"Granger," he half-whispered, placing his hand on my cheek, "everything, and I mean everything, is going to be just fine." He looked at me for a moment, contemplating his next move, "if I kiss you, are you going to shout at me again?" the corners of his lips curled up as I rolled my eyes. "Shame, you're cute when you're angry," he chuckled before leaning down and pressing his lips softly against mine.
The door opened as George walked in cluelessly, I pulled away but Fred left his hands framing my face.
"Oh, I see," he smirked before turning to leave, "I'm gonna go make a cuppa and I'll be back in around 2 minutes so, unless you want an audience, I suggest you wrap this up," he called on his way out.
"I should go," I smiled.
"Hang on, just one more time, please," he kissed me again, more confident this time.
"I'll see you at dinner," I mumbled as I pulled away.
I bumped into George on the way out.
"Yes Freddie!" George shouted as I closed the door, followed by shushing sounds from Fred, I giggled to myself. It felt like finally Fred and I were making some progress.
"Hermione?" Ron shouted from my bedroom.
"Yes, what is it?" I asked as I entered the room.
"Where were you? I've been looking for you for like 10 minutes," he said.
"Oh I was just," I trailed off. What was I supposed to say? Hi Ron, I've just been busy secretly making out with your brother. Of course I couldn't tell him.
"Harry should be back soon. I'm worried for him, you know?" he moved closer to me, "What are we gonna do if they expel him?" He took my hand in his.
"Well, we're just going to have to cross that bridge when we come to it. Anyway, gotta run, I think Sirius wanted to speak to me." Sirius was the first name I could think of, I wanted to get away from Ron as soon as possible to avoid all of the guilt I felt. I snatched my hand away as I turned to leave.
"Sirius? What does Sirius want you for?" he looked confused.
"I'll go find out and then I will let you know," I smiled, rushing out of the room.
I burst into Fred and George's room, "We didn't even think of Ron, how could we not think of Ron? He'll be so-" I stopped talking.
"What's happened to Ron?" Mr Weasley inquired, standing opposite Fred and George who both looked awfully amused.
"Oh, you're back. Where's Harry?" I asked, perfectly changing the subject.
"Probably downstairs. The trial went perfectly by the way, nothing to worry about," Mr Weasley smiled.
"Brilliant," I squealed, running out of the room to find Harry.
