I was sat in the common room reading, fairly late in the evening when there were few other people in there, when Harry came down from his dorm, invisibility cloak in hand.
'Look Harry I'm so sorry for yelling at you earlier, it wasn't you who I should have been annoyed with. Although, if it helps, I snapped a bit at Ron too,' I said.
'Look, it's fine, I'm entirely over it, to be honest all I've been thinking about is the tournament, it's hard to ignore. I went to see Hagrid and he told me to meet him at 10 in the forest and to bring my cloak so that-' he began.
'You don't have to explain,' I smiled 'Go, you'll be late,' I gave him a small nudge to the door.
'Talk to you later?' He grinned.
'Yeah and tell me what happens,' I said, happy to be properly talking to my best friend again.
I continued reading as people began to leave the common room and was entirely alone for about 15 minutes before I heard someone walking down from the boys' dorms.
I looked up and my eyes met Fred's. I hadn't seen him since the night we'd almost kissed and I immediately felt very awkward.
'Oh, um, I didn't realise anyone was down here, I'll go, don't worry,' he mumbled, turning to head back up the stairs.
'No, stay, I don't mind,' I said, figuring that I'd just forget all about our almost kiss.
He sat down on the sofa and faced me.
'Look,' he started, 'about the other night, I'm so sorry. I was tired and I wasn't thinking straight. I should never have tried to kiss you, it was so stupid and I didn't mean to-'
'Fred,' I giggled, 'it's okay, I don't mind, it's forgotten,' I tried to reassure him.
'Oh, okay, thank you. Oh, and I was lying. I completely knew you were down here, I just didn't know whether you would want to talk to me about it so I... yeah,' he rambled.
'I did not realise that you could be this awkward,' I laughed.
'You do not tell anyone or I will be hearing about it all year,' he chuckled.
'Too late,' George grinned from the top of the stairs.
'I hate you,' Fred said, starting to run up the stairs, 'see you later, Granger,' he called back to me.
I closed my book and went upstairs to see Ginny.
'Ginny!' I shook her in her bed. 'Wake up!'
'Is there a fire?' she groaned.
'Would I sound this excited if there was a fire?' I replied, sarcastically.
'Okay, what?' she sat up, lazily.
'I have made a terrible mistake.'
'Ooh, love it, tell me more,' she grinned.
'I think- I think- that I might possibly have a tiny crush on your brother,' I said.
'This is brilliant, he so obviously likes you back,' she squealed, looking suddenly wide awake.
'You think?' I asked, surprised.
'Ron is the easiest person to read, I'm telling you-'
'No no no, not that brother,' I grinned, trying to read her tired expression.
'No? Okay, hun, I have a total of 6 brothers, you're gonna have to narrow it down for me,' she said, exasperated.
'Fred,' I blurted out, sounding significantly more excited than I meant to.
'Oh my god. Fred?!' she shrieked.
'Shhhhhhh' I giggled.
'Sorry but since when?'
'Not long at all. I think it started after he tried to kiss me the other night.'
'He tried to what?' she smiled broader than I'd ever seen her smile.
'Okay, Cheshire Cat, calm down,' I teased. 'What do I do though?' I asked.
'Same as what you're already doing since it's obviously working if he tried to kiss you,' she laughed. 'Anyway, this is exciting and all but can I sleep now?' she continued.
'Right, yes, sorry,' I said, getting off of her bed and heading to the door. 'See you in the morning,' I smiled, heading out of her dorm and into my own.
Parvati and Lavender were already asleep so I quietly made my way to my bed and changed into my pyjamas, before getting into bed.
I began thinking of all the things that led to me liking Fred this much and in less than 5 minutes I was in a deep, peaceful sleep.
