I sat in bed until around midnight, everyone else in my dorm was asleep but I couldn't seem to get my mind to stop thinking about Harry and Ron.
I stepped out of bed and headed downstairs to the common room, not expecting anyone to be in there.
'We need to stop meeting like this,' I giggled, addressing the red headed boy lying across the sofa.
'I couldn't sleep. How come you're down here so late?' Fred asked, sitting up.
'Same as you,' I shrugged.
He patted the seat next to him, gesturing for me to sit down, I obliged.
After I'd sat down, I noticed him move subtly closer. It wasn't an obvious movement but I quickly recognised it.
We'd been talking and laughing for just over half an hour, before I realised how much closer he'd gotten to me without me even noticing. After a few minutes of him being as close as he could possibly get, he finally leaned in, his hand moving up to my cheek as he lowered his mouth to mine.
Thud.
We jumped at the sound of a door being closed shut and practically scattered apart. My heart sinking at the thought that we almost kissed, but didn't.
He took my hand and lead me under the stairs that were leading to the girls' dorms, as we listened to footsteps coming from the boys' dorms.
'Sirius,' we heard a familiar voice whisper. 'Sirius, where are you?' It was Harry.
Fred looked at me, holding a finger up to his lips to tell me to be quiet, smirking slightly before beginning to giggle.
I hit his chest weakly to make him shut up.
'I still have no idea how my name got in the cup, I didn't do it you have to believe me,' Harry spoke.
'I know you didn't put it in, Harry,' sounded Sirius. 'There's been talk that it was a follower of Voldemort who did it. Whoever put your name in that cup definitely did some dark magic to make sure that your name was both put in and chosen.'
'He didn't do it,' I sighed to Fred, feeling immense guilt wash over me.
'You didn't accuse him of putting his name in the cup, Granger, it isn't you he's angry with,' Fred reassured me.
'Oh god, I really hope not.'
We listened for the door to close again before we came out from under the stairs.
'Where were we?' Fred smirked.
'Oh go to bed, Fred,' I sighed, walking back upstairs and leaving him standing alone at the bottom.
